    Roma 2 1 Lisbon

Led for most of the match but only with a 1 goal lead.

We managed to hang on for the 3 points though.

        Sociedad 1-1 Barca

Disappointing performance from us that was never going to get anything against the quality of Barca. Defence weren’t bad but were let down by the midfield and frontline. Two wins, two draws and five losses isn’t bad when you consider the quality of our squad against the rest but that won’t improve with performances like these.
        Played Graeme, good game.

          Atletico Madrid 2 Juventus 0

          GG AB

The Banks double header at home this week welcomed Andy to the Spanish capital and the 4th best side in the league on paper Juventus. Juve proved just that taking advantage of their managers spot-on tactical decisions to put pressure on the Atletico goal from the start. Atletico weathered the storm and came in for the half-time tangerines at 0-0. The opening goal in these contests can be so important and Sessegnon ended his duck for the season with a goal after 51' minutes. Atletico were able to restructure their side although an altercation with the 4th referee on sidelines stopped Glik from entering the field of play. Scenes were reminiscant of John Aldridge swearing at the officials with Big Jack Charlton flailing his arms in the hair. Thankfully Atletico were arguably better without the substitution and went on to double their lead through a late Vinicious goal. Both sides struggling in front of goal taking a 13-16 shot count into a 4-6 on target count.

Manager Simon Marsh commented "Juve were unlucky not to get something today and I think had they scored the opener we would be looking at a loss. Two big results in the last 2 games have kept us in touch but the table has a very familiar look to it already with 8 of the best 10 sides sitting in the top 10 positions with the season still in its infancy".

No players improved their skill levels this week.

A negative this week was the poor hygiene levels left in the away changing rooms. Despite numerous flushes the away toilets have been blocked for the last 2 hours with several floaters refusing to dive bomb. Manuel the cleaner has been plunging away to no avail. The club has 6 days to sort them before Barcelona visit. At this rate Livi could be out in the car parks portaloo.

            Munich 2-1 Leverkusen

a very bizarre game, pretty even up until the point they Munich had a player sent off, then they responded straight away with 2 goals.

A change of tactics left us to dominate the rest of the match but only scoring a goal.

good game JB, lucky to get all 3 points from this one

I didnt dig too deep, but on the face of it, it looked like our hosts simply copied the combo that AC Milans used to dominate us in the previous game. On 15 minutes we changed tactics and got 3 goals inside 7 minutes. The game was effectively over, but i was curious to see if our goalkeeper would again manage to concede a very high proportion of shots faced. Fortunately, he only had to face 3 shots, and managed a very rare clean sheet. We maintain our 100% away record, and surprisingly leapfrog Real Madrid to the top of the table after they were only able to manage a single goal victory at home to a stubborn Leipzig.

                Atletico Madrid 2 - 0 Juventus

Firstly, sorry Nick for the error.

This one is difficult to take, up against a strong team and manager...I'd usually try to psyche Marshy out with some pictures/audio taken in my bathroom but it seems he's got some kind of fetish and likes it.

Onto the game and I was surprised to see Atletico line up with an attacking formation and tactic and with our defensive C set up I thought we'd take this game but after a goal less first 45 minutes, it was the hosts who took the lead shortly after the restart.

With this goal, we went from having TA (A vs C) to being against it (C vs P) and it looked an uphill battle.

The home team added a second just 8 minutes from time to wrap up the game and seal the 3 points as we trudge back to Turin with our tails between our legs.

Statistically we were the better team and deserved something from this one, however the luck wasn't on our side today.

Looking at the league table, we may be 4th best in terms of wages but were miles off of it on the pitch.

                Good game Marshy

                  Real Madrid 2 - 1 RB Leipzig

A tight, professional home win. Three points on the board. The shot count of 19-7 and 16/19 to our front 4 would normally give us at least 2 goal cushion so to only win by one (after being 2 up) is disapointing on those stats especially saying as PSG leapfrog us on goal difference. But hey, a win, is a win. Today we showed something differently tatically again. It's important to not be totally readable. It got the job done but only that really. GG Mike.

                    Sevilla 1 - 3 Inter Milan

We gave P one last try and it did well for a change, the stats were fairly even against a good team at home but we were clinical, Son managed his hat trick in the first half scoring a minute into the game and his 3rd on the 30th minute, after that we felt the game was over and opened up and went A expecting perhaps another couple of goals but they never came with Sevilla scoring deep into the second half with a 74th minute goal, performances and points for us this season and we march on. gg mate

                      Borussia Dortmund 2-1 MARSEILLE

This was a sore one to take with the Germans winning it with the final whistle in sight. I did OK, given the squad at our disposal but I have to be honest, I am looking at the volume of minutes the squad needs, once Euan comes back in my opinion, he may need to look at this.

That's not what cost us, I think we ran out of ideas and a better Dortmund side took that one extra chance when they needed it, but I'll be truthful, they edged the game and probably did just enough to warrant the 3 points.

We go again, we gave it a good enough go but just not good enough today.

                        Real Sociedad 0 Barcelona 2

Felt we played really well in this game, arguably our best performance of the season. Mixed things up both tactically and formation wise to accommodate our new arrival Caicedo and he had a very promising debut immediately rating up. Read some 'experts' calling him average but we rate the lad highly and are very pleased to have him.

Good to see Jesus score after a barren spell and Mahrez starting to show too why we shelled out so much for him. A rare clean sheet as well as we switched to a back four.

No disrespect to Sociedad but obviously there are tougher games ahead starting with a trip to Old Trafford on Tuesday night. Vital we get something from that one if we want to progress out of the group.

Unlucky Freddie, not an easy job there but you have started the season pretty well.

                          Real Madrid 2 - 1 RB Leipzig

A predictable result to one of the top contenders for the EFL title but nowhere near the result of our first meeting in which we lost quite heavily in the EFL Cup. So happy with a loss of this scoreline and also we actually scored a goal with a Vlasic header. So thats out the way and onto the DB Cup in which we face Premiership side Wolves.

                            AC 2-1 Lazio

so the slip starts, 3 rough games start with a dominant loss to Fink,,,,,

we bossed large parts but didnt really get at milan like we should have, tactically our changes aided the ac milan press,

mbappe scored and put in a good performance but Ferran Torres broke the game on 87,,,

up next the mentor, Real madrid, wont look to far further than a loss there

                              AC Milan 2 - 1 Lazio

Lazio has quite a superior team, and a great manager on Drum.

We had the tactical edge, but they were quite able to handle us for most of the match, numbers show that overall.

Lucky for us we were able to hit first once again, and lead all the first half of the match.

Early in the start of the 2nd half Lazio found an equalizer and shown too close to take all the 3 points from our hands. At the end of the match, Ferran Torres hit his first scorcher of the season, and won the match for Milan.

The 3 points allow us to stay on the leaders train behind PSG and Madrid, but unfortunately, they keep getting away on GD, we need to score more or it will cost us at the end of the season when necessary.

We face Real Madrid next, a golden 6 points match that will affect us, and PSG.
