BONANZA DETAILS COMING SOON
Bit of a tricky one with Ryan sheeting for the first time so not much to go off, but got the call right going with L and should have been more than 1 up but struggling with finishing.
Rangers then switched things up and looked more likely to score in the second half of the game, but luckily we kept it tight.
10 points from 15 in what is a very tricky league, a good start was required after a poor season last year.
Bayern's cowardly C offered very little here - unfortunately, we couldn't make our superior shots count.
Our 3 x 21 raters haven't clicked into full gear yet and we are struggling for goals. We'll give them a bit more time before judging the experiment a failure though.
We are level with title favourites DP so can't complain at this stage.
Doesn’t get much frustrating as that! Take the lead in the 80th minute, looks like we are heading for three points and then our goalkeeper goes crazy. Completely bins a Sevilla player, penalty and Darwin Nunez steps up to fire home the equaliser.
Up to that point I thought we had been very good and more then held our own.
Hopefully we won’t come back to regret this but it’s still a good point.
Played Stew.
Roma 0-0 Bayern
Unlike most folk, I am not in the business of giving the big sides an easy 3 points this season and with a defender down I decided that trying to match Romas style would be foolish.
C is counter ATTACKING so for it to be called cowardly when it’s actually a smart thing to use sometimes stinks a little bit of god complex. Do Roma have the god given right to roll over teams? No.
- Howzat?!! Juventus Hit For Six By Swashbuckling Madrid.
3 goals sent Real Madrid rocketing into a 3-0 lead. However Juventus then went and scored 3 goals themselves to pull the game back to 3-3 at half time. Losing a 3 goal lead is not something we often do, so there was certainly "words of advice" given out to the players in the dressing room at the break.
Into the 2nd half and 3 more goals for Real saw the game end up 6-3 to the home side who get bank to winning ways after the blip against Bayern. Bit of a funny game, with all the goals coming in 3 goal segments. We all know Andy likes a good shit but you could say Andy Banks was given a shit sandwich in ths game!
Atletico grabbed the early lead through Diaby and both sides switched to counter-attacking. The excellent Werner equalised after 21minutes. It was a fairly low shot count with Atletico edging it 7-9. Lyon lost Gollini late in the game but Atlectico failed to apply enough pressure to take advantage of it.
Manager Simon Marsh commented "Its a decent point against a competent side but these are the games that define the championship chasers from the best of the rest and we have a long way to go still. We could have nicked this one but a fair result was the draw".
Good news is the availability of Sessegnon who has missed 3.5 games. Also negotiating player minutes for the season has been made easier by this very injury with several players needing time already well down the road.
The EFL cup draw was once again unkind with an away trip to holders Bayern Munich. Improvement in the cups this season was high on Atletico wish list to try and get near the sort of prize money some clubs manage. With 4 Conference sides still in the cup there was a decent chance of getting a good draw. However, it seems luck favoured others with the cup favorites all missing out one drawing on another. Bayern v Atletico is the tie of the round.
A great win at home that gives some air for the week.
Started with TA which gave us a quick headstart, with an early goal by Gio Simeone. Before the 1st third of the Match, not only we had a goal ahead but also they lost Boateng for an elbow towards Lo Celso's face.
With one man more, and winning, we went into the HT, which seemed to be the final result, but a gust of 2 goals in the minutes 61 and 62 gave us the final edge so we could secure the 3 points.
Sporting doubled the shoots in comparison to us, but they lacked the accuracy to make them head towards the goal.
Now we have to visit Napoli in our next match, who is coming from a 2-0 victory. Very important 3 points ahead to stay on the trail of Europe qualifier positions.
Just a relief to win to be honest especially after going behind with the first action of the game and on the back of failing to get a win last week. Red Bull are a bit of an unknown commodity for us and they certainly made us work for the 3 points although I think we were well worthy of them come the final whistle. Saint_Maximin with another goal and a strong performance.
Good to get back on track and be slightly closer to the top two who both dropped points.
Next up a tough trip to Monaco in the cup, a venue we always seems to lose at.
PSG 3 Inter Milan 3
One of those frustrating games that you cant really do anything about. Inter matched us formation wise and i would rightly have expected to dominate. We did, but when a 22 GK only concedes 12% of shots faced and your 23 GK concedes 30% from weaker FWs, there isnt a lot you can do. Had enough shots to win this game twice. I thought we had sorted ourselves defensively after 3 clean sheets, but Costa has costa win. Only positive we can take from the game is that Felix is now the games only 23 rated FW, and we can now revert back to 3/4 forwards.
GG GS you poxy fuck, and get better soon. Cant have a caretaker giving easy games to my rivals
We travelled to Dortmund on the back of our first league win of the season looking to quickly make 1 win into 2 and get something of a run going, to that end we went with the same starting eleven from the Lyon game.
The game was even through out the first half with neither goalkeeper put under any great amount of pressure until just before half time when a diving header from Immobile saw him open his league account for the season as Kobel in the Dortmund goal was unable to get enough on it.
On the hour mark Dortmund forward player Reinier went down under a heavy challenge and couldn't continue leading to the introduction of Borre from the bench and he proved to be the game changer as with less than 10 minutes of the game remaining he received the ball in the middle of the pitch, passed it out to the wing before then getting on the end of a cross to bury a finish past Hradecky in the Monaco goal and ultimately give his team a well deserved share of the points.
Good game Niall, good luck for the rest of the season.
