Real Sociedad 3-0 Rangers

What a brilliant win for us and a massive three points. After the midweek collapse against Porto we know we needed to bounce back and we did just that. Some really impressive individual performances especially from Ibrahim Konate who was a monster at the back. If we can continue to pick up points against middle of the league clubs like Rangers than we might stand a chance of staying up.

Comfortable win for everyone's title favourite.

3 up after 38 minutes but then our shooting went a bit wayward. Might need better sh stats.

Martinez seems to finally have recovered from the trauma of playing for Man Utd and has now kept 3 clean sheets.

Kostic is back next game & raring to go.

Leverkusen 3-1 Marseille

A fixture we struggled with last season but no such mistake here. Shots of 23 to 6 show the domination and it was only a
resolute Donnarumma that keep the score line reasonable.

Very happy with the performance and to be scoring goals, something we struggled with last season, is a big relief.

Schalke 1 Barcelona 3

A v A to begin with and the home side quickly found themselves in front. However after they changed to a counter attacking style we got ourselves level and then in front before HT. Despite dominating it took until the very last kick of the game until we made absolutely sure of the points so we could never feel completely relaxed.

Pleased to win as we often drop points in matches where we're expected to win. Jesus with another goal and good to see Saint_Maximin get up and running after a couple of quiet games.

Long long way to go but a great opening week for us.

Inter Milan 1 - 0 AC Milan

A game we figured long term absentee Milan manager Mati would change tactic as he only hands out free gifts to everyone else in the league as he prepares for his twice a season cup final against us, thankfully we had a inclination he would change it up but did not expect the L, we took a quick lead through Di Lorenzo and then spent the game countering them with the lions share of stats, the biggest disappointment for us was not scoring more when we really should, but sometimes three points is all that matters, i really wish AC Milan would continue to surprise who they play sheet to sheet like today but we all know thats a dream. gg mate and best of luck for rest of season

Atletico Madrid 3 Napoli 0

After the midweek cup win it was back to league business and a home game against Napoli. The first two games of the season were tight affairs with Madrids extra quality seeing them home. This one was a dominating performance as the home side won the shot count 30-6. With 18 shots on target it was perhaps disappointing that the score-line was kept to 3 by a 15 shot saving
Vlachodimos. The goals were scored by L_Paqueta (3), J_Sancho (35), Vinicius_Jr (50).

The season has started well for Atletico with 6 points bagged and progression in the cup. Further goood news was the increase of Mancini passing to 19-16-3 and Paqueta shooting to 3-19-18.

Manager Simon Marsh commented "That was a really good performance out there for us today and one that gives us confidence in the new squad moving forwards."

The bad news was the 1-game injury sustained by G_Mancini who will miss the trip to Paris. This one injury is believed to have caused Marsh to rip up his game plan. It will be the first big test of the season and a shame that the side has lost a key player.

Monaco 0 PSG 4
played 2 dms in defence to test their effectiveness and managed our first clean sheet. Perhaps it's the way forward. 2 goals inside 5 minutes for Yeremy saw our hosts close up and go D. Not much happened until we got a third shortly after the break. Surprisingly Monaco ditched the D and we got another before the hour mark. Disappointed that we were unable to add another and go top of the table.
Much tougher test next against unbeaten Atletico.

Juventus 3 - 2 Sporting Lisbon

Absolutely delighted with this win against last seasons surprise package. We knew we were up against it and expected an A tactic from Lisbon, do we decided to match it hoping to get the first goal, however Lisbon played P but still, the games' first goal did go to us through F_Wirtz on 11 minutes.

There was a switch in tactics for both teams, from A vs P to P vs A but it was again us who scored next, on 36 minutes to double our lead and take a firm grip on the game.

We switched tactics to C to take TA, but the 2 goal advantage lasted only 5 minutes as the visitors pulled one back before half time.

Into the second half and Lisbon stuck with their A tactic and 11 minutes into the second half, they were level and we'd thrown away a 2 goal lead.

We went back on the hunt and it was A vs A and I felt that the next goal would decide it and feared it wouldn't go our way, however in the 88th minute, A_Isak scored to give us all 3 points and a famous victory for the Juventus faithful.

Statistically it was a very even game, the home bonus probably was the deciding factor but after a very tough start to the season (Barcelona, Lazio, Lisbon) we'll take a slice of luck and a rare win vs Windy's Lisbon team.

sevilla 0-0 Lazio

early battle v stu, and you always know your in for a tough and mental battle with this guy,

we lined up E, hoping to spring a surprise, but stu was just as clever and went E straight away, this then became an early battle of nunbers,,,, to which on 9 minutes, we won the early battle, pulisic chipped in but with no VAR, no clear and obvious error, the ref (a picture of him wearing sevilla Y fronts emerged after game) just decided that he wanted to disallow the goal,

we had done enough to prove we could score, so we set about trying to break the deadlock (again).

it was pretty evident that we were more accurate with 9 on target,,,, musso was doing his best builder impression, building a wall we couldnt get through,,,, there central defender got MOM, says enough,,,,

Borussia Dortmund 0 - 3 Real Madrid

Niall has taken plenty of points off me over the years so happy to take the three points in this encounter after a 13-26 shot count. Elliot on the scoresheet again and young captain Dest having a great game in defence justifying his massive transfer cost in the pre season. Next up is Sevilla another usually tricky team, so let's see how that one goes.

2 years ago when appointed Sevilla manager there was a big gap vs Drum's team at the time .. and last season we were knocked out of the Cup by them ..

After a lot of hard work it feels like we have got pretty close to them, and deserved at least the point here ..we created more chances than them and held our own with possession ...

3 chances in injury time show we weren't happy with a point

Matches vs the self-proclaimed big guns are always fun, I am glad to hear that GS feels special and that I change tactics only for him, but the rest has it easy.

We had the right idea, GS had the luck, shame we could not at least steal one point out of this one.

Monaco 0 - Paris St Germain 4

Realistically if we'd taken anything from this match it would have been daylight robbery. In my opinion if PSG don't win the EFL this season they have under-performed.

Following our defeat in Naples we changed things around a little dropping Pereira and bringing in Aubameyang up front while Arthur and captain Jovetic dropped back into midfield.

These changes almost certainly backfired as in the first 5 minutes PSG striker Pino slammed 2 finishes past Hradecky in the Monaco goal to give his team a 2-0 lead. A change in mentality for Monaco saw us get to half time without the game getting any further away from us.

Having got to half time and had chance to rebuild, within 5 minutes of the second half starting we were 3-0 down as Hradecky let a shot from Saliba slip through his fingers. Five minutes later it was certainly game over as Pino got his third and PSG's fourth.

Statistically we didnt deserve anything from the match - and looking at the changes we made I think we could have taken a different approach and it might have produced a better result.
