MANCHESTER UNITED 4-4 Sunderland United win 4-2 on penalties
Well that was absolute bonkers. We had the game in our hands and we dominated, but from 3 up within a 20 minute window 4 goals went against us and 3 within 6minutes of each other. Thankfully we found a leveller through Fati but we just couldn't get a winner and had to settle for the penalty lottery.
Major credit to Sunderland for turning the game but, this kind of leaky goalkeeper and weak defence might be out big detriment this campaign. Hopefully this was a one off and now a wake up call.
Tottenham Hotspur 1 - 2 Blackburn Rovers Well close game do think we edged it slightly but cracking game going to extra time spurs great outfit and getting a win over them can only be a positive unlucky Ed mate.
Got to the final of this competition last season but go out first round this time. Chelsea away is a tough tie of course but we felt we needed to go into the game positively and we could easily have got a better result in the end. That said two goals down at the interval we was up against it, our front men though got more efforts on target but despite Mo Salah halving the defecit we couldn't get back on level terms.
What a game for the neutral, but horrendous edge of the seat stuff for both sets of supporters. Nothing between the two sides throughout this absorbing encounter. Thankfully for Wolves Pascal Struijk popped in a goal within a minute of the kick off to give us a decent platform for the rest of the game. Despite plenty of huffing and puffing our currently misfiring strikeforce couldn't add to it. So it all came down to a penalty shootout. Pedro Goncalves took the first and tried a panenka which their keeper gobbled up as Pedro's low confidence continues to plague him. To be honest we thought that was it, but both sides traded goals before Aaron Ramsdale became the hero to save Palace's third penalty. We were now both level as Quinton Timber converted his to then see Palace miss the target on their next. It was all down to captain Tyrick Mitchell to try to win it for Wolves. He duly dispatched it and Molineux erupted......
Absolutely brilliant to get past a fellow Prem side and progress to the next round, but it's come at a cost as Emerson Royal left the field as the concussion protocols kicked in after a clash of heads. The latest is that he will definitely miss the next two games.
Very well played Lee.
Our next game sees us entertain Palace once more, but this time in a league fixture.
2-0 down at half time, and then 3 goals between the 47th and 58th minute saw the game turn on its head in dramatic fashion. The Barnsley battlers move into the second round, in a very even game that definitely could've gone either way. A fantastic team performance and gives the side some extra confidence coming into their first home fixture of the campaign tomorrow against another great side in Blackburn. GG Mike all the best.
Up against Bristol City who are also in the Premiership meant we got one of the harder draws and we booked our place in the second round with a tight win that really should have been by a little bit more going off the stats but none the less, we got the job done thanks to a first goal for the club by Locatelli who is fast closing in on his skill increases. Bad news though as Thiago is out for three games.
Very tough game this one, and Im more than happy to progress to the next round. The deciding factor was the clinical finishing of Sane, whose been on fire this season so far, and Schick who helped himself to his first goal in the blue shirt. Very good result, hard luck Ian.

Mate I can't believe it. I read that and at three down thought we were dead in the water. Then all hell broke loose as we went for it.
To get a draw against a superior prem side is good don't me wrong but then to lose on penalties is a bit gutting. Pens are a lottery I know but it hurts a little. We ran you close.
If only we had been at home eh Steve and then who knows.
A cracking game mate and well played and good luck in the rest of the cup.
At 1-3 down I thought we were dead and buried, but we battled back and secured our way to the 2nd round.
Apart from conceding 3 we played really well. Scored 4 and created loads of chances. Very happy for this to be the start of our season to see how far we can go in this comp.
Without Europe this season we have this cup to focus on.
With Burnley having their main keeper out, we had to make sure we took advantage of it. The lads stuck to the game plan and we progress to the next round.
We really made our extra quality pay today. We were clinical as well as reasonably dominant in overall performance.
The objective before the match was to get through, we have an achieved that and gained some good abs in the process so can’t be bad.
This is a competition I’d love to win or go far in again, doesn’t matter who we draw, we just need to turn up and beat whoever is put in front of us.
I like the balance of my squad at the moment.
cheers steve, unlucky mate. Keep chipping away
