    Crystal Palace 3 - 0 Stoke City

Poor showing from us, yeah it was away against TA, but it was like there was minimal effort from the lads. The best player was our subbed on defender that’s how bad this performance was.

So, I did something I rarely did last season and played C from the start, maybe I overthink a simple game. Was it a lazy C, not in my mind and when I saw the home side play L I wasn’t concerned until going through the report. Coupled with that was the fact I did something with my sheet that even told Tyler at work I wouldn’t do. I won’t divulge this but I’m more annoyed with myself that I did it again. Safe to say, it won’t be happening again that’s for sure.

Palace and Stoke on paper are similar rated. So I’ll put this down to whoever plays at home will get the W haha. Hopefully put it right in the next game and round 22.

    Good game Lee.

      Newcastle 1-1 Barnsley

We were battered, but came away with a vital point. There is a lot of squad depth at Barnsley, and the lads held tight, performed well, but mainly due to the 11 saves from Maximiano in goal. A sensational performance from the young shot stopper. It is still very fun taking care of Barnsley, as the aim should be to push for those European places this season. A solid start to the campaign but we know it is a very long season. GG Newcastle all the best.

Solid start for the Blues, as two goal man of the match Sane, swept aside the owls.Always a tricky encounter against Wednesday,so happy with the start and 3pts.Good game mate.

          Hammers 0 - 2 Spurs

No show from the home side and we faced random. Never easy playing random and tbh, I don’t like it at all. It may very well end up with the team sheeting being the losing side.

Luckily we got the goals needed to pick up the win on opening day. The game was at a stall until we changed tactic in the 70th minute and got tactical advantage. Myron Boadu got a brace inside five minutes and it won us the game.

            Aston Villa 3-1 Middlesbrough

A home tie against one off the newly promoted teams ensured we went into this curtain raiser as firm favourites. We set off like a team on fire and raced into a three goal lead with just 12 minutes on the clock. The away side though despite the defeat can claim to have done themselves proud in this tie as they mounted almost as many goal scoring chances as we did and deservedly got a goal back later in the game.

              A_Silva (4), D_McNeil (18), D_Lovren (63)
              Booked: D_McNeil (73), B_Mee (82)

              MotM: Douglas_Luiz (Liverpool)
              HT: 0-2

Very disappointing for our first game in the Prem. We had HA and TA but it was all to no avail against Liverpool's standard use of the P tactic. Stats wise the lucky scousers edged it but it was nowhere near enough to merit a three goal advantage. Upside was new midfield signing Maxence Caqueret had a very good debut outing, on the flip side of that new keeper Aaron Ramsdale had a shocker of a day. As expected it looks like it could be a long hard season for Wolves.

Our next game sees us in the FA Cup where we host Crystal Palace. Not sure how this will pan out considering the Palace management failed to turn up for their opening league game.

                Blackburn Rovers 4 - 4 Burnley

You spend 20,000,000£ to buy a 18 rated reserve keeper because you know your no. 1 keeper gets injured quite often. Afterall, you lost 5 points due to keeper´s injury last season. Now, round 1 is finally here with a tough match at the Ewood Park. Guedes opens the scoreline in minute 13, Cucurella adds another one 10 minutes later. A two goals lead seems promising. Then your no. 1 keeper gets injured in minute 36. With hope you look at the bench looking for your 18 rated reserve keeper to show what he is worth. Then you realise you left him home. Instead you brought your 13 rater.

A stupid way how to loose 2 points and a terrible way how to start the season.

                Anyway, well pleayed Ryan.

Apologies for the teamsheet typos Jon.

Would say a tough close game against a top side we really.want to go for it this season but was it really that close game despite goals coming late on afterall they.lost.there number 1 amd had weak guy in nets so perhaps we would have been shocking and never have equalised if that didn't happen.

For whats its worth good game buddy hope your keeper ain't out for long never good too lose keeper.

                    MANCHESTER UNITED 5-1 Southampton

Great start to the season, fantastic display. A lot of positives from the game, a nice spread of assists in the game, basically apart from the goal we conceded it was a pretty perfect opening game.

Hopefully get the lads rated up quickly too which always helps. Not getting carried away at all after one game but it was a good one to start the ball.

                      Arsenal 1 - 3 Manchester City

Opening day defeat to Man City is how we kick our season off. One of the hardest fixtures of the season for nayone this so the loss isn't to worrying, more glad its out the way. Oliver skip getting his first goal for the club and some decent abs across the board was a plus from a game we didn't really deserve anything from.

Glad to be back in the dugout once again for the new season.

                      Played Nick.

Can't be upset with the result wasn't going in with much hope but happy that we got a good few shots in as my worry moving up was how my lower rating team was going to hold themselves that 19 rated keeper really showing though letting those in but well played least we got 1 in at the end

                          Brighton 3 Bristol City 2

With Jon Pike away for a while the FFO FA have asked Windebank to caretake The Robins until Jon Pike is back. These are big shoes to fill as the serious lack of quality shows what a great manager Jon Pike is to achieve promotion with them last season.

The first big test was away to a club Windebank managed in FFO1 but the Seagulls current manager was a no show and The Robins faced a random sheet which Windebank always struggles against.

Joao Pedro got the Robins off to a flying start giving Bristol City the lead in the 4th minute.

A change of formation and tactic in hindsight was probably not the best choice as Brighton stuck with their rigid 4-4-2 C which paid dividends in the 21st minute when Haller pulled the Seagulls level.

Five minutes later Alberto got all his Christmases at once when his effort took a wicked deflection to give the Seagulls the lead.

The Robins were instructed to go on the attack and Brighton dominated the rest of the half.

Bristol City's attacking play paid off in the 67th minute when Joao Pedro found Vyner who made the scores level at 2-2.

Could Bristol City break Windebank's random voodoo and go on to the win the game? No!!!!

Two minutes later Haller got Brighton's 3rd of the game and his 2nd of the match to make the score 3-2 to the Seagulls.

The Random dominated the game with 53% creating 22 shots of which 11 were on target compared to Bristol City's 9 shots created of which 4 were on target

                          Windebank's Post Match Comments

I can't fault the players efforts out there today and yet they were blown off the pitch. The gulf in class was clear to see so I suppose I should be happy that we scored two goals and only lost 3-2.

This has the makings of a long season and I need to pick up some wins quite quickly so that the players know they can compete at this level.

We are away again on Tuesday when we face Arsenal in the FA Cup which is going to be a tall order I have to say.

The objective is to try and accumulate enough points for Jon so that he is in the relegation fight when he returns.

                            Arsenal 1 - 3 Manchester City

Probably the worst fixture to open up the season. We haven't really one much over the close season, so we just had to stick to what we know works. Fortunately we played really well and came out on top. Grealish was on top form and backed up my decision not to replace him (for now!!).

Good Game Daz and all the best for the season.

                              Leeds United 3 - 1 Everton

This is a lovely way to start the season. A game in which we dominated and deserved all three points, a game where we played pretty well and started the season the way we wanted and needed to. All due respect to Everton, this is the sort of game at home we should be winning. Standards need to be high this season and I feel like that is a good starting point.

cheers will we’ll played, all the best for the season until we come to your place.
