Manchester United 3 PSG 0
One of those crazy games that you hope you wont get when its a crucial game. Steve will probably think it was a tactical masterstroke, but the game typically went how i anticipated. Unfortunately, the FFO gods gave the hosts 7/9 on target of which 3 hit the back of the net, whilst we only got 33% on target and couldnt score. Disappointing to concede 3 from 7 when we typically have a rate of 1 in 4.85, but thems the breaks. Didnt deserve to lose the game, let alone lose by 3. Oh well.
Well played SteveO
That's right, we turned it around which I had little confidence of this time last week but turning this over is the biggest result I've had, possibly ever.
Ed clearly felt we'd go either A from the off, or E expecting the C, so him thinking N is best choice, we curve balled him, and started route 1 and was clearly the better team up to 1-0. Both teams changed set up through the latter stages of the first half and this was the period we knew we'd risk losing any advantage we gained initially but hoped the 4 FW would come good, they did. Then we knew PSG would get rash so switched set up again and schooled their attacking set up to get the 3rd goal. Up to this point we dominated the game, and only once we started to bolt the stable doors up did PSG start trying to play.
With the set ups we had we knew we would lose some stats, it was inevitable but we played to win the only one that mattered, goals and we played with the emphasis on quality not the quantity. It was a perfectly executed game plan to knock out the best team in the game.
We deserved the win, you throw an x against a y to suit but when you only play for 30 minutes of a 90 minute game then what can you say.
We got proper lucky first game with our strikers having the game of their lives and finishing off the game as a tie. Another stroke of luck that the second leg was done with, as we had lost Foden and Bernardo. Hopefully suspensions don't ruin our final.
The tie was well and truly over in the first leg so we went into this with a strong side to just and get some abs on the board and avoid another cricket score which we did by getting a 2-2 draw which in the league would be a good result away at their place but although we walk away with a draw, we end our stay in the Champions League at the semi final stage which is still a great achievement to reach this far.
