BONANZA DETAILS COMING SOON
What a huge result for us and given our recent form, patchy at best, this could be vital in kicking on, with arguably a tough week ahead. The early goal settled down the tie with both sides setting up with similar approaches, which I was surprised at given how City have often set up against us.
We certainly kept ourselves in the tie, but a moment of madness from Saka sees him miss PSG midweek. Thankfully, some fresh energy uptop settled the tie when Adeyemi matched Sancho, both bagging goal number 20 of the season today.
It's certainly not a classic today, but I think tactically we got each call and decision right and think we deserve the win, but need to match this result , as there's too many games we go off the boil and drop points needlessly.
Back to back wins as we despatch the toon 2-0.Again we were the better side, and again we take the points, aren't I a lucky boy.Strange game, and I don't think I ever will understand it.Good game mate.
Typical FFO . We did not deserve to lose this game, we were the only team that came to try and win the game and were positive and that reflects via the stats and given our superiority stats wise, you'd think that might reflect on the scoreline but then again why change the habits of a whole season. It's happened to us constantly, stats wise there is probably about 3 games we have been dominated all season and yet we continually lose. The FFO gods are definitely not on our side and my over riding feeling is that luck is far more important than tactics.
Villa are a very good side, they are at a very similar level to us I think, so it's not a disgraceful result or anything and it's not like we battered them, but we certainly didn't deserve to lose this game but we are so used to this. Fuck it anyway, it's already been a shit season in the league no matter what happens from here so I bolox to it all. Get the season finished and let's hope we are fucked over on a less regular basis next season.
Well played Ian, wish I was playing someone like Ed who was abs chasing, I might have won then
Season 2 Premier League Champions - Leeds
Season 2 Conference Champions - Porto
Following on from their crushing win against Manchester City Windebank took the Toffees to the Emirates Stadium looking to cement their place in the Champions League places.
Everton setup to play on the counter and gained tactical advantage over the Gunners.
The opening 35 minutes were very even and sensing the Toffees could get something from the game the Toffees changed formation and tactics as they opened up a bit and matched tactics with Arsenal.
In hindsight this appeared a mistake from Windebank as Arsenal took control of the game and their dominance was rewarded in the 50th minute when Thiago played a perfect through ball to Chiesa who dispatched a great shot to give the Gunners the lead.
Everton went on the attack as they tried to salvage something from the game but this was to no avail as Arsenal parked the bus from the 75th minute.
Everton dominated the game from this moment but could not find a goal and Arsenal earned a deserved three points.
Everton had 53% possession but Arsenal created 15 shots to Everton's 6 of which Arsenal had 11 shots on target to Everton's 4.
Windebank's Post Match Comments
The players gave everything today but it was just not good enough and Arsenal deserved their victory. We had a lot of the ball but just could not create enough chances to really bother Oblak in the Gunners goal.
I need to remedy this defeat against Spurs on Thursday as I dont want to ruin Will's holiday by only getting 3 points from a possible 9.
Always a pleasure playing you Darren, well done mate and best of luck for the season.
We needed to go for this to continue our good form and also make sure we start climbing the table. Since dropping to the bottom we’ve won 4/6 and each win gives us a shot at staying up.
Unfortunately, the teams around us keep picking up points too and it’s hard to pull away, but if we keep going like we have I’m sure we’ll be ok.
After this result we leapfrog Leicester and maybe start thinking of the unthinkable and getting into Europe.
Leeds United 0-1 Aston Villa
,
Following on from three games without a win, a winless run that included two defeats this was a welcome result even though it wasnt particularly deserved. Leeds United have also been a bit of a bogey team to me so another reason to be pleased with the outcome. Despite the comments from the Leeds gaffer we came into this game with every intention of winning it, now sure why playing the counter attacking game suggests otherwise. We nudged ahead fairly early on in the the game and saw no reason to alter our tactical aproach due to that goal. We was holding on at times as the home team pushed on much more than we did but our defenders all came out of this game with a lot of credit, pleased for them.
After seeing Everton rip Man City a new one in their last game, we knew this would be a tough game to get something out of and after our poor result in the last game, more pressure was on us to get the win. Had we not, results went against us in some of the games but luckily we got a big three points via another goal from Chiesa who makes it 26 for the season.
I think we did enough to win it, eleven shots on target I wont lie I think we should have maybe won by more but they lined up to try and make it tough to break down and that's exactly how we found it. A big three points that closes the gap slightly on Spurs in second and even City in first.
A good performance, but let down by subbing my two best shooters which led to a late James Maddison penalty that was missed and there went our chance to score three very precious points. An away draw against a classy outfit and manager is good but we haven’t won in 7 now. We must start winning as we are now in the relegation spots for the first time this season.
Pile of shite! another poor result, against one of our bottom half rivals. We tried a fairly positive passing formation, but were edged out of it on the stats. We were missing a middie, but not enough down to play so poorly, oh well, gg Bridgey, form doing well there.
So time to leave Leicester open to applications, feel reasonably happy with their progress from bottom of the conference to Prem safety zone at the moment.
