    Sporting Lisbon 3 - Monaco 2

When we hosted Sporting earlier in the season we were able to keep it tight until half time before snatching 2 goals in the second half to record a statistically just about deserved victory.

This time we travelled to Portugal flying at the top end of the table while we are fighting to stay in the DPT places for next season. Only one change from the victory over Leverkusen as Caio Henrique came back in to replace Iago although it was no real suprise when he got withdrawn on the hour mark having failed to have any impact on the game whatsoever!

Sporting dominated in all areas of the game, and took the lead through Politano before Aubameyang scored his fourth in 3 games to equalise only 2 minutes later. It remained level to half time although the injury to Rensch in the Sporting defence will surely have had an impact on this.

Ten minutes into the second half Sporting retook the lead before German international Lewandowski scored, at the wrong end, to give Monaco an equaliser that was scarcely deserved. With about 10 minutes to go Eden Hazard scored a third for Sporting and we couldn't come back for a third time.

3 points, and an aggregate victory against a team who will surely be in and around the fight at the top as the season draws to a close is a good result for us.

Good game Gary, good luck in the title charge.
