    Atalanta 2 - 2 Villarreal

An entertaining game played out with the home side going all out for the win and my boys also playing some neat football to keep the crowd well entertained. The home side scored first via the penalty spot and then remarkably three further goals scored between the two sides before the half time interval with the score line then staying level for the remainder of the match. Second half could also have produced further goals in all honesty but a point each was a fair reflection of the game.

      Injured: M_Ihattaren (55)

      Middlesbrough 1
      D_Fry (57)

      Booked: R_Aguilar (83)

      MotM: A_Kalajdzic (Wolves)
      HT: 2-0

This game saw the top two sides in the division cross swords for the second time this season with the home side keen to ensure this wasn't a replica of the first encounter which saw the Teeside team take all three points. Wolves certainly set their stall out early as the club's top scorer Sasa Kalajdzic latched onto a long pass from Jakub Moder to stick the ball in the top corner for the first goal of this top of the table clash. Dutch midfielder Mohamed Ihattaren added the second just before the half hour mark to put Wolves in control going into the second half. Middlesbrough came out fighting in the second half and grabbed a goal of their own to make things interesting. Wolves kept at it and were rewarded with a superbly taken goal from Cody Gakpo after being set up by Michael Cuisance. In fairness to our visitors the game stats show that in truth the result flattered Wolves somewhat. There was precious little between the two sides and this could easily have gone either way if the homre side had not been quite so clinical in front of goal. Wolves' goal difference is now the best in the division which may give us an edge later on in the season.

Well played Andy, unlucky there but I suspect this is going to go to the wire.

Next game see's us travel to Amsterdam to face Ajax who are having a good season under Alfredo Gandarlo and we will need to be at our best if we want to come away with anything.

Breaking News: Ihattaren's injury has been assessed and was not as serious as it looked. He will therefore be available for our next game.

        Derby County 2-2 Sociedad

Really frustrating result. Took the lead twice and conceded it twice. Thought we would have learnt our lesson after the first but our keeper had a mare in the last minute and conceded a penalty which saw us lose two points. Until we sort out those sort of performances we ain’t going to get anywhere near promotion. Well played to Derby though, they were determined and fought back well.
Some quality coming in next week with the arrival of Jordan Henderson and hopefully that can give us a boost to sort out our inconsistent form.

          PSV 4-3 Real Betis

Exciting game, and a rare 3 points for PSV.
I was expecting the A, but thought we'd go for our strengths, and it looked good at 3-0 up, but the nerves set in, as befits a team with such a poor record this season. But, we held on and got a rare win.
Given the number of chances, it could have been any score, ul dude
Nice to have a fulls strength side out, and avoided any more injuries, so onwards and upwards

            Wolves 3 - 1 Middlesbrough

A top of the table clash with the two form teams clashing in England.

We both had similar approaches however it was the hosts who took an early advantage with a 12th minute goal. We gave up TA in search of a response, however Wolves doubled their lead just before the half hour mark and took a real grip on the game.

We threw everything at Wolves at this point, however Wolves took the 2 goal advantage into half time and well into the second half, but on 57 minutes we managed to claw our way back into the game as we made it 2-1 and had renewed hope.

This hope was ended on 72 minutes as Wolves scored their 3rd to seal the points.

Statistically it was a very even game, however the hosts took their chances and we didn't. We drop down to 3rd however it's a very tight league still. Good game Ray

              Bristol City 4 - 1 Schalke

Way too predictable and we paid for it. A match to forget for sure.

              Good game Jon.

                Derby County 2 - Real Sociedad 2

We named the same starting eleven for the visit of Sociedad as had secured a good victory over Atalanta last time out but went behind only five minutes in as Dolberg opened the scoring for Sociedad. We got to half time still a goal down having pushed 3 of our midfield quartet from central midfield into the number 10 role behind Pukki and Icardi.

Shortly after half time Sociedad were denied a penalty before we then went up the other end and Icardi scored his tenth of the season

Ten minutes later Zubimendi scored a fabulous goal for Sociedad, taking it past Koopmeiners before a shot on goal that Ramsdale could only spill into the back of his goal and they looked set for all three points as Derby huffed and puffed but couldnt get past Agirrezabala in the Sociedad goal.

With the last attack of the game Dallas played Billing through towards the Sociedad goal only for Agirrezabala to bring him down
Agirrezabalaand the referee to award a penalty to Derby. With captain Icardi off the pitch the responsibility fell to Pukki to rescue something for Derby and he didnt disappoint as he chipped the penalty over a diving Agirrezabala.

Maybe a somewhat undeserved point but we've had plenty of games this season where we haven't got what we deserved so it's nice to get the rub of the green this time around.

Good game Freddie, good to see you back.
