In the absence of Sasa Kalajdzic due to injury Cody Gakpo has stepped up well to make an argument for being the No 1 striker. However, this game provided him with both highs and lows, highs saw him score the opening goal which also sees him rate up to 18, but he followed that up less than half an hour later with an early walk down the tunnel after receiving his second needless yellow card that will see him miss our crucial WM Cup game against Barnsley.
This is one of those games we should be winning if we want to have any title aspirations. Betis set up as expected and we therefore had both home and tactical advantage. More possession and more quality attempts on goal but all for nothing after going down to ten men so early in the game. Twice we led and twice they came back at us. Very frustrating!
Kalajdzic will return for the next game while Gakpo sits it out in the stands. Michael Cuisance rated up and Jakub Moder is one away from joining him. Manuel Neuer didn't have his best day in goal so will have to wait for his improvement to 22.
Good game Evan.
Next game as mentioned is a home game against Barnsley in the WM Cup as we look to try to seal qualification to the knock out stages.
Derby County 1 - 4 FC Porto M_Icardi (25) R_Horta (3 pen) D_Loader (12,36) Pedri (37) R_Horta (injured 54)
Good result again for Porto. Played well and got what we deserved. We don't often go and score this many but lovely to see.
The result puts us up to 3rd, still very tight but all we can do is keep picking up points and so far we continue to do so.
It's a decent little season so far to be far. Let's try and carry this on. Long way to go, we aren't even at the half way point yet.
Season 2 Premier League Champions - Leeds
Season 2 Conference Champions - Porto
The boys took a bit of a pasting in this game and although the scoreline was arguably a little harsh on Villarreal there can be no doubt the home side deserved all three points. It was actually Villarreal that had the ball in the back of the Leipzig goal first in this game only for the effort to be disallowed for reasons only known to the referee and things could have been very different had the goal stood. Following on from that and once the home team scored their first goal the change of tactics always favoured them as they went on to comfortably win the game.
Bristol City 0 Cardiff 0
I am running out of superlatives to describe just how shit Cardiff are. I dont think i have ever managed a team that has performed so badly. Kroos is possibly the best midfielder in the conference yet has half the passcount of players much worse. 2 shots against a team playing a back 4 is woeful, and i am lucky that 80% of the hosts shots were off target, esle we would be undoubtedly looking at another defeat.
Well I really am out of ideas on what to do now here can't win atall not sure if I played 16 players on pitch that I'd win a game lol really struggling not through lack of trying but this is the worst I've done with a team across all.Esms games I've played or play.
probably more chance me winning lottery and I don't put it on lol owell 3 goals scored so can score just need to somehow stop.conceding.
Seems like my last game as caretaker for Schalke 04 after Chris S applied for them. It’s been a nice ride.
Credit to our performance and team when our opponent set up with D tactic at home. We didn’t get the goal we needed to get the win but a scoreless draw is okey.
We sit nicely in the table, only three points off top dog Middlesbrough FC. All to play in the last half of the season. Big chances of success if Die Königsblauen can keep it up.
A derby day win, which looked extremely comfortable at one point but ended with us feeling very nervous.
P vs P to start out with and for the majority of the first half, we were the better team and with 6 minutes left in the first half we took the lead through A_Dijksteel and both teams switched to C heading into half time.
Into the second half and Sunderland came at us on the hour, which played into our hands as we doubled our lead immediately.
We went on the hunt for more goals and with around 15 minutes to play, we wrapped up the points with a third..or so we thought.
Goals on 89 & 91 minutes from the home team made the score much more respectable but we managed to see the game out to return to the top of the league.
Statistically we were the better team and deserved the win, good game David.
We can't seem to buy a goal at the moment, but I'd be willing to! Had a decent number of shots, but vast majority of these were off target. Cardiff didn't really threaten the other end it ended up as a stalemate. Definitely feel that this is two point dropped here.
