    Roma 6 2 Chelsea

Another manager trying C against us and another failure. Told the lads to play with plenty of freedom in the second half which resulted in a hatful of goals which will help our cause. Another MotM performance from Firmino.

We are now four points clear but we've a habit of falling short in this competition so taking nothing for granted.

Another big game next as we welcome Real Ruthless.

      Tottenham Hotspur 0 - 1 Real Madrid

Relatively even game here. We deploy another formation from our bag o' tricks, an unconventional E some would say. We did consider a Cowardly C Lisbon special, as we knew Spurs would have to come out to play but decided to try out what we had been working on at the training ground. The game was looking like it was heading towards a draw, and we'd have been okay with that with the group situation as it was, but a switch to a different tactic gave us some more attacking impetus and Rodrygo immediately scored in the very next minute. We closed out the game and secured a vital win that put's us ahead of PSG in the group and in the driving seat, although there is a lot of work yet to be done.

Overrall, a nice win in what was a 50-50 game which completes a double over the best team in the Premership at the moment. Good game Eduardo.

Roma next in the league. And we must be on their minds. As we even get an edit of his post match article out of Rip off Hughes. "Ruthless United" I saw first, but after I splashed on a bit of Paco Rabanne for a night out in Landon Town, I checked again ready to perform my own and saw he changed it to "Real Ruthless". I believe boys. That we are living rent free. Glorious. See you in Rome.

        Spurs 0 - 1 Blancos

Another loss in the Champions League and we’re one step closer to getting knocked out of the tournament. It was a close one and despite having eight attempts on target we didn’t manage to score. Thibaut Courtois got the better of us tonight. It’s disappointing to see ourselves having such a struggle in the CL but there’s some very good teams in the group and we haven’t had any luck on our side. Time to acknowledge we’re not good enough to compete with these top teams.

        Well played Steve.

          MANCHESTER UNITED 4-7 ATLETICO MADRID

Well, the fans got their moneys worth!

It was a terrible display from our goalkeeper again which I think made the difference. It was another game where we came up against a counter attacking set up and once again we struggled against it, but we played very well in my opinion and can take some positives from our work on the ball, but at the back we might have to strengthen because Martinez, who was immense last year, is clearly having one of the worst campaigns we've had.

A missed chance to secure qualification, but 2 games to go, get a draw next time we're good.

            Barcelona 0 - 2 Aston Villa

Not much in this game stats wise but it was a brace by Mo Salah who scored a goal in each half that clinched the points. We played the majority of the game on the counter and it was Salah with his pace in behind that did the damage. With Man United looking a safe bet now it's still all to play for as the other three teams in the group fight it out to join them.

Manure Nited 4 Atletico Madrid 7

Another exceptionally good performance to travel to one of the games giants and outplay them in their own shabby back garden. 11 goals enjoyed by the neutrals and away fans with most of the home day trippers taking selfies and tucking into their prawn sandwiches oblivious to the score-line. Goals from Zielinski, Vinicious (3), Maximin and Cairney (2) capped off a wonderful evening of champions league football for a side new to this sort of challenge. The win gives Atletico a deserved shot at qualification. Having outperformed the opposition in all four fixtures, 4 points is still a paltry reward. It will likely need two more victories to make it but if not then the fans have witnessed a great night despite the smell of the salford slums.

Manager Simon Marsh commented "I think we were fortunate that the home manager took his eye off the ball and spent most of his preparation time arguing about a potential £2.5m transfer fee that never actually happened. Thankfully we trained to the full and it made the difference as the home players looked sluggish out there".

              GG SO.

                Juventus 0 - 1 Arsenal

Another poor midweek performance from us today.

Arsenal set up with L which took us by surprise but we thought we might have enough to win the game, especially when Arsenal changed tactics to A on 30 minutes, giving us TA.

Half time came and went and it felt like the later it got, the more likely Arsenal were going to sneak it and on 81 minutes, the visitors went ahead and then shut up shop.

Statistically it was a poor game but 1 shot 1 goal for Arsenal sums up our season. Good game Darren.

2 huge games remaining for us, both away.

                  Barcelona 0 Aston Villa 2

There was nothing in the game at Villa Park which we won by 2 goals and there was nothing in this one which we lost by 2 so I guess you could say it's evened itself out.

Our favoured passing approach clearly hasn't thrived in the land of the C tactic, the only game we've won so far in the competition was when we deviated away from it. A draw wouldn't have been a disaster in this game so we probably should have set up less predictably but I don't like us playing in a cowardly fashion at home.

All still to play for in the remaining 2 games, although we'll probably need to win away to Atletico next up which won't be easy.

                    Juventus 0 - 1 Arsenal

Very much a smash and grab win this one but a vital one none the less. Not the best of performances as the stats show and with one shot on target, it says all that needs to be said really but it was a vital one that Chiesa took to ensure we get the double over Andy and his side who in all fairness, didn't deserve to lose this one at all.

We went with something a bit different and although it didn't really make waves to start with, it kept them quiet and we switched it about to try and create more which although it didn't work, the only goal that won the game came from us.
