good win for us here. Typical Porto win where we grind the game out. Managed to get the goal and defend for our lives. Still right up there in the mixer after this one but it’s all very congested up there. Going to plan for now though.
probably did enough to win this one but again a bit of a slog and we’ll battled again.
Season 2 Premier League Champions - Leeds
Season 2 Conference Champions - Porto
What a result for the Rams! We welcomed PSV to Pride Park at possibly the best possible time with MBappe joining PSV after this match and some eyes at PSV maybe looking to that deal and not focussing on the match at hand.
We changed things around slightly, dropping Koopmeiners into defence and leaving Domilson on the bench. We took the lead through Corona before conceding two goals to PSV and Faivre just before the half hour mark.
Five minutes later Mauro Icardi showed why his new caretaker manager John Read has seemingly chosen him over Pukki to lead the line for Derby with a well taken second to put the Rams level, we scored a third through Elvedi just before the break and went into half time with a 3-2 lead.
Five minutes after half time Derby scored a somewhat fotunate fourth as Boscagli was unlucky in that his clearing header looped over his own goalkeeper and into the back of the net.
The scoreline doesn't reflect the game, but after the poor run of form we've been on I'll gladly take it.
Good game Sam, good luck for the rest of the season.
Atalanta 2 - 3 Sunderland Well we're definitely having a tough time trying to get a result only one win and rest loses since my arrival I know I inherited a bad side but I feel the signings we've done we should be doing better gutted to have lost this game but again we dust off and go again as the results will come Sunderland give us a good game today and we're better finishers well done to them on there win.
After going in at the interval and also leading by two goals to nil for the first 30 minutes of the second period this result was a tough one to take. In just five devastating minutes the Robins scored three goals to take a game that looked to be heading our way. Now I am not going to deny that our visitors played well and certainly deserved something from this game, but when it comes in the manner that it did, well its like being stabbed in the heart.
A perfect home display and three vital points to keep up with the top bunch.
Cedric Brunner got a rare brace from his full back position while Florent Mollet added to his tally and scored his fourth of the season.
Really pleasing to get back on winning ways but it was far from a solid performance. The visitors made it very difficult for us but tonight we did except exceptional in both boxes.
"I Thought we would struggle tonight, My dads old team that have been struggling they were always probably going to win, the truth is we should of probably got at least a draw, but i think the lack of true attacking quality in the team has proved very costly recently and thats hopefully something that will be rectified when Kylian joins later today, today meant a lot of chances went missing from both young Pedro and Navarro, maybe their heads were already in Blackburn, ive said this a lot this year and its just another one of those games, not much we can put our finger on that went wrong, conceding far too many goals with a 20 rated keeper in between the sticks so we will dust ourselves down have a warm down session this afternoon, welcome Kylian and get ready for Sunday night when we welcome Villarreal."
A solid and much needed win on the road for the slightly misfiring Wolves. In truth there was little between the two sides for the majority of this match and it was looking like the sides would share the spoils until midway through the second half when Sasa Kalajdzic took full advantage of a trick free kick by Michael Cuisance to put Wolves in front. Five minutes later and another set play delivered the icing on the cake as a superb corner from MotM Pascal Struijk found sub Quinten Timber who finished well. Two set plays and two goals sealed it for Wolves. At the final whistle Manuel Neuer was ecstatic recording a clean sheet. No injuries or suspensions resulted from this game, but Di'shon Bernard picked up his first yellow card of the season.
Good game Mike, unlucky not to get a point.
Next game is another league encounter, this time we go up against FC Porto at Molineux.
These were the games we were winning earlier in the season, but Mr Luck has deserted us it seems.
After going a goal down, we tried some tactical changes, and despite edging the shot count, ended up well beaten. Gg dude
We did have a defender out, but our keeper didn't cover himself in glory, with only 4 saves out of 7.
This drops us down the table, but there's nothing in it between half the division.
Oh well, onto the next one.
This team doesn’t seem to know when it’s beaten and made another stunning comeback to clinch all three points, leaving Villarreal fans broken.
I don’t know if we deserved to be two goals down, we definitely deserved something from the match though in the end - and its a result that sees us surprisingly sitting at the summit of the Conference. The management aren’t under any illusions that this position is temporary, but it’s good to be briefly here at least. A defeat in the next round could also see us plummet to 8th* which shows how close things are.
Unlucky Ian, do feel for you with this result.
* I haven’t bothered looking at fixtures and some teams might play each other, so this might not be possible but the level of this journalism is consistent with the Daily Mail.
Back to winning ways after a run of 3 consecutive defeats against a strong team/manager combination.
We set up with a more open tactic than usual, knowing we'd likely be countered and we were, but it was us who took the lead on 30 minutes and Feyenoord held firm with their C tactic which we matched once we took the lead.
Feyenoord came out of their shell 5 minutes into the second half, giving us TA and on 81 minutes, we doubled our lead and wrapped up the points.
Statistically we were the better team, 2-0 is generous though but we'll take it and move up to 3rd. Good game Nick.
Ajax 1 Cardiff 1
Disappointing performance in a L v P. conceded early and managed to pullback level on 23.However the L killed the game and it remained uneventful. After a terrible start to the season we are managing to string a run together as we go unbeaten in 4. However, Kroos just isnt doing it and will likely be moved on at the end of the season
