    Baggies 2 - 1 FCP

Loat to the last kick of the game but to be fair we didn’t really play all that well so although it’s a cruel way to go down, it’s not really an unfair result. Not a fun read, but we were slightly below the levels we have hit so far. West Brom deserve their three points today so fair play to then. No idea who the manager but well played.

FCP barely got a shot on target which was a surprise, and we didn't concede early which was a bigger surprise. Didn't seem too much between the teams but they had a bit more possession. We scraped through with another last minute winner but could have gone either way really, hard luck.

    Bristol City 5 - 1 Derby County

P_Goncalves signs in midweek, with Andreas Weimann moving on - and Gonclaves hits a hattrick in his first match as we get a convincing win against struggling Derby.

5-1 definitely flatters us, although we were good value for the 3 points and managed to give extended minutes to more fringe players in the second half.

There will be more moves in the transfer market before the end of the season, but not for a couple of weeks as the manager is away and will manage to sheet and little more. In particular prolific striker Nahki Wells has been told that he will be allowed to move on, but is the current captain and so this won't be imminently. Pike has declared he doesn't have allegiance to any of his players at the moment and if the deal is right, anyone could move.

Good luck with Derby for the rest of the season John (apart from week 30).

Was surprised to see the visitors line up with a D, but i wasnt even aware that their GK was out, such is my level of attention these days. Simply resent my previous sheet which fortunately was an A sheet. However, Cardiff are so poor that they still needed the gift of a penalty to score, despite having 7 shots on target against the oppositions 15 rated GK. Fortunately the opposition couldnt manage a shot on target giving us an extremely fortunate win.

A very disappointing game which summed up our up and down season so far. My lads need to look at themselves in the mirror and ask themselves some serious questions. There was a severe lack of spirit out there today from the boys in black and gold and the Molineux faithful were not a happy bunch at the final whistle. And even though there was precious little between the two sides the Black Cats deserved the win playing to the end and grabbing a last minute goal. Although to be fair Sasa Kalajdzic had a very late chance to equalise with the last kick of the game! Five players booked in this niggly game, two of which were Wolves. Thankfully no suspensions or injuries for Wolves.

        Very well played David.

Next game is a tricky trip away to RB Leipzig.

          Feyenoord 1-5 Villarreal

A terrific performance by Villarreal who notched up a rare win in emphatic style away to their Dutch based opponents. Ian Greaves boys played the game on the counter and time after time broke free to punish their stunned opponents. By the end of the first 45 the Villarreal boys were three goals up and soon made it all the way to five after the break. Feyenoord scored fairly late on, a goal that proved to be a mere consolation for them.

            Königsblauen 2 - 2 Verdiblancos

A very open game where the two teams ended up with sharing the points after two goals each. We had the lead twice but both times we threw it away. Goals from both our forwards is a nice thing though but we need to start winning games if we want to climb the table.

            Well played Evan.

              Cardiff City 1 - 0 Middlesbrough

Without our GK and best DF, we knew this was going to be a difficult game in which to get anything from even if Cardiff are struggling atm.

We attempted to shut up shop and at least get a point and despite the home team having TA all game, we seemed to be holding them back....Until we gave away a penalty on 75 minutes which Cardiff dispatched to give themselves the lead.

We stayed with D as we didn't fancy getting battered and the game ended 1-0 to the Welsh club.

Statistically we were 2nd best, as to be expected. Good game Ed.

In terms of the bigger picture, we've lost 3 on the bounce (I'd put 2 of those down to the GK suspension), we're still only 2 points from the top of the league which shows that it's a very tight league. We have to get back in our groove now we have our players back from suspension.

                Sociedad 1-1 Ajax

Another week, another top of the table clash. We knew what to expect here, and was disappointed that we didn't win.
Ajax scored with their one shot on target, but that's the way it goes sometime.
Goalscoring defender Gorosabel got amongst the goals, and bagged a man of the match award and uprate, so all in all not a bad day, but it's very close in the Conference and a few bad results would drag you well down the table

                  Bristol City 5 - Derby County 1

Not much to say about this one, except that it highlights that massive changes need to be made at the club. Far be it from me to criticise the previous regime but £70 million spent on 2 attacking players in the off-season - both of whom don't make the starting eleven on merit looks to be poor business, both of whom are unable to be moved on for the season either so we will need to work with what we've got but we desperately need to look at ways we can improve the defence, and the shield in front of the defenders.

Jon has recently resumed his management career after a period away, but on the evidence of this performance he is definitely capable of managing at a higher level than the conference and I have every faith that he will be rewarded by the end of the season.

Good game Jon, good luck for the rest of the season.
