    Lazio 1 Sporting Lisbon 2

Game 9 saw Sporting Lisbon travel to Lazio (previously known as Fiorentina) to face a Drum team that Windebank has historically struggled against.

The world of FFO were in an expectant mood that this would be the game that logic defying Sporting Lisbon would be put in their place and handed a bloody nose.

Windebank yet again tweaked his formation and starting tactic using the dreaded European tactic away to the class of Lazio who he was expecting to use the Counter Attacking tactic.

Windebank was right but European tactic away from home is about as effective as a pair of speedo's in the Artic.

Lazio raced into an early lead Araujo headed in a De Paul corner to give the Italians the lead.

For the 2nd game in a row Sporting Lisbon would have to come behind from a goal down to an Italian side if they were going to extend their winning streak.

Windebank ordered his unfancied charges to go back to what they know best 5-1-0-0-4 Attacking in his quest to find a victory.

In the 27th minute Robert Lewandowski delivered an inch perfect corner onto the head of the in rushing Juan Mata who made no mistake to bring the scores level.

A change to passing tactic looked like it was going to backfire as home and tactical advantage meant that Lazio were in command of this match even though the half time whistle went with the game locked at 1-1.

Windebank's Lisbon this season are showing no fear and a steely resolve and in the 60th minute like against Roma Sporting Lisbon went for the throat again.

For the next 16 minutes it was all Lazio but then out of nowhere Matteo Politano unleashed a fantastic lobbed pass to the marauding Casemiro who flicked the ball past De Gea to give the Lisbon Lions a 2-1 lead.

The final whistle brought the game to an end with Sporting Lisbon on 24 points out of a possible 27 the Sporting Lisbon fans are in dreamland at the moment and none of them want to wake up to the usual reality they have to endure.

Lazio bossed possession with 59% and created 16 chances to Sporting Lisbon's 10. 6 of Lazio's chances were on target with Sporting Lisbon managing 5.

Another big Italian side visit Portugal on Thursday when Inter Milan come to town, who are in fantastic form under Hamza and sit in 3rd place on goal difference only 3 points behind the EFL early pacesetters.

    Windebank Post Match Comments

Pinch me I must be dreaming, I have asked the stat geeks to take a look but I am sure this is the first time I have beaten a Drum team. They are always close affairs but that was a magical win today and the Sporting Lisbon steam train keeps chuffing along.

This game could have gone either way but we seem to have a team of leaders this season who never give up and keep finding a way to win at the moment.

Even the most partisan Sporting Lisbon fan would not expect 24 points out of a possible 27 and I am no different in that aspect.

Yes we recruited well in the close season but has the ultimate stat man commented on discord the other day, there is no chance that Sporting Lisbon can win the League this season as no team can make up the historic points difference from Sporting Lisbon last season and his Championship winning side.

Who am I to argue with the current League Champions, Ed Clark knows his stuff so we will keep plugging along each game at a time and see where it takes us.

For now I need to prepare to face my old side Brighton on Tuesday night in the DPT cup which as many of the elite managers like to tell me is my level.

Good game Drum so nice to actually win a game against ya mate and best of luck for the season.

      Roma 3 0 Sevilla
After the embarassment of losing to little Lisbon the Galaticos were keen to get back to winning ways and did so with a straight forward win against a Sevilla who side who tried every tactic in the book to find a way through the Roma Way.

With most of Romas title rivals being gifted goals and points in recent weeks and the vultures battle hard to prevent the TKs transfer progress. Roma just get on with the job of winning games

Next up away to Chelsea in the CL.

        Inter Milan 4-2 Leverkusen

Came up against the entirely predictable P from Inter Milan, must be a problem with the sheeting as it’s the same one each time.

Unfortunately C got nerfed at the start of the season by someone who then quit the game.

Ts are running wild, and the season is officially fucked.

But all in all, a well deserved win from
inter. Shame our relegation rivals benefitted from a T.

The bigger question here is will Inter Milan do the right thing and sack Wilson?. Siddiqui is putting him to shame.

            Inter 4 - 2 Neverkusen

            "Predictable Result"

Still salty after not receiving the Inter gig, manager Jhop was put back into his place with a thumping from Big Rom. Always was going to be a routine fixture where the outcome was virtually certain.. to the extent I could just reuse my existing tactics.

Well, that's the most GS impression I can pull off. Was a decent game, C is nerfed yes but could have maybe used it better.. not going to suggest how but still a good game and good luck going forward, you'll make up the ground soon!

              Juventus 2 - 3 AC Milan

Our poor start continues as it seems we play a quality team in every fixture as of late. Perhaps this just shows the strength of the league now?

The game started out C vs C and after a short while I had a feeling we'd go behind. HA, better team, same tactics and shortly before the half hour mark that's exactly what happened.

We struck back within 2 minutes but AC retook the lead on 34 minutes and we went in at the break a goal behind.

In the second half we threw everything at the visiting team, searching for a 2nd of our own but 10 minutes into the second half, Milan seemed to seal the win with a third goal.

They then shut up shop and tried to defend the win. Despite a late goal from on loan AC Milan striker R_Quaison, we fell to another defeat.

Statistically it was an even game so we feel a little unfortunate that we lost today. We're slipping ever further away from that top 8 and the slump of 1 win in 6+ needs to end and fast. We're picking up abs all over the pitch but the results aren't coming our way at the minute.

              Good game Mati

                Lyon 4 Atletico Madrid 4

                good game Jason.

                This game swung all over.
                Lyon 1-0 - 7 minutes
                1-1 18 minutes
                Lyon 2-1 34 minutes
                2-2 43 minutes
                Madrid 2-3 46 minutes
                Madrid 2-4 48 minutes

The game looked to be in the bag for the away side with them two goals ahead and still getting more chances.
However, Lyon came back 65th and then an heart-breaking 88th to make the game 4-4.

Manager Simon Marsh commented "Its the second time recently we have tried to maintain a 1-goal lead in the last 10-15 minutes of the game and failed. Perhaps we should throw caution to the wind and try and score 1 more instead in future. We are still unbeaten but 4 draws on the bounce is poor form really and we have harder games to come. With a few sides performing better than expected champions league places could be harder to come by this season".

                  Real Madrid 7 - 2 Rangers

"This win puts us "top of the big 3" for the first time this season. A welcome win but our 2nd and 3rd goals did look perhaps a little contentious. The VAR could have gone either way on both of those but we was lucky that they both went our way. Once ahead with a nice cushion we pushed on and put Rangers to the sword, but to be fair it was a relatively even game apart from the shot count which was the big difference. It wasn't a 5 goal difference game though and Rangers deserved a little more respectable scoreline. Good game Burrows.

We've had some big wins this season. But all of them have been against human opponents in the oppo dugout. And all but one was against decent formations and tactics. We get our big wins the hard way in the majority, but it seems a few other big teams have had huge wins granted to them the easy way on a silver platter by virtue of extremely weak T sheets which is disapointing and ruins the integrity of the league. It's good to hear that there are plans to address this in the post season though."

to come in against the form team, but not a surprise,

stats don’t lie and I felt a draw would possibly be the best and good outcome for us. But we were undone while we we in control.

we led the game early through Araujo, but the bubble has completely burst on our luck at the moment. 3 consecutive losses is putting more and more pressure on the next sheet.

                    gg windy.

                      Barcelona 8 Marseille 2

There's been some crazy scores of late (even excluding the T sheets) and this was another one. Marseille came and had a go having had a bit of success of late with that same approach.

An emphatic score line for us but ultimately it's just another 3 points as we try to hang onto the coat tails of this season's surprise package Sporting Lisbon.

Our next league match will be a completely different affair as we travel to PSG. They've been a bit hot and cold so far but we are well aware that on their day they can thrash anyone so we'll need a bit of luck and a strong performance to come away with a good result.

Didn't expect anything but think we could have done better ...

                          Borussia Dortmund 3 - 1 Eintracht Frankfurt

I wasn't sure what to expect from Frankfurt as I believe their manager has missed team sheet submissions prior to this game, although I was relatively confident of getting a result against them as they find themselves bottom of the league having not won a league game so far this season.

We got off to a perfect start when Manchester City Loanee, Campana opened the scoring on three minutes, the home support were able to relax a little having taken the lead so early in the game.

Reinier then doubled our lead nine minutes which took a bit of pressure off, Frankfurt then switched to a counter-attacking tactic on 26 minutes, which allowed them to get a goal back before half-time.

Thankfully, we restored our two-goal cushion when Julian Weigl put us 3-1 up shortly after the hour, and that is how the game finished. "It was good to get the win regardless of the circumstances, I get the feeling that wins may be difficult to come by this season so we will take this one and prepare for our next game in the WM Cup."
