BONANZA DETAILS COMING SOON
"We battered the opposition from start to finish and dont have anything to show for it, a poor goalkeeping performance from Walter, luckily hes already agreed a deal elsewhere from mid season, the rest of the lads played well and created plenty, unfortunately missed chances also cost us as can be seen by the amount of chances we created on the match report, these things happen in football and we will now move on to the next game."
What can I say? We get an early goal instead of conceding for once, have a player sent off, have loads of scoring chances against us and then get the winner in injury time. Bad luck, hope things improve for the rest of your season.
This is certainly going to be a tough season in charge at Villarreal. We might have matched todays opponent in open play but we lack the quality that most other teams have at this level. With several attempts to improve our squad falling flat we now have to consider letting some players go for a minimum fee and we also have very limited funds to play with. With some of our squad members already in their twilight years bringing in more further ageing players is a definite no. Meanwhile we soldier on and try to pick up points here and there.
Possibly could have nicked a win here but a point is not the worst result ion the world. It keeps our good run going I suppose and we stay in a handy position in the league.
I bolloxed up by not putting in Horta when I think he was available so the two points dropped are on me really. But then Martinez got userfull mines at least and god knows we have plenty of minutes to get plenty of players through out this season
Season 2 Premier League Champions - Leeds
Season 2 Conference Champions - Porto
Another tricky game against a decent side looked after by a caretaker manager with a massive title and cup winning pedigree. Both sides exchanged chances in the first half, but Manuel Neuer stood firm to hold the Dutch side at bay. Forty minutes in and it was Cody Gakpo who made the difference scoring his first goal in gold and black to put Wolves in front at the break. The second half saw the visitors open up after the first ten minutes, but it was the home side that got the next goal courtesy of Sasa Kalajdzic who latched onto a pass from Reece Oxford to put Wolves two goals to the good. Feyenoord's best player on the park, Youri Tielemans dragged the Dutch side back into the game with lovely goal to set up a nervy last 25 minutes. Chances came and went for both sides, although Wolves did look the more likely to score again. As it turned out Kalajdzic put the icing on the cake in the dying seconds with his second and Wolves third of the game ensuring the three points went to the Molineux side. Great result for Wolves and to top it off Reece Oxford rated up. Thankfully no injures or suspensions resulting from this game so we can go into the next game selecting from a full squad.
Good game Nick.
Next up is Bristol City in the league. No pushovers, but we need to keep bagging points if we want to hang on to Middlesbrough's coat tails!
Another away match and found ourselves 2-0 down again, but this time we managed to pull it back.
Fulham definitely dominated the early stages; reading the commentary coming in I could only see things going one way and it was no surprise when Ings opened the scoring on 23 minutes.
We seemed to wake up in the second half and whilst Fulham had the majority of chances in the first, it was our second half. And we managed to convert a couple of those to level things up with half an hour still to play. I was more than willing to settle for a point and pleased that we did so.
Overall statwise we shaded things, but it was marginal and can't argue at-all with the result.
Another key win for us, on the road this time. Up against one of the weaker teams in the league which will no doubt be turned around under Ian.
We started out C vs C and the hosts took the lead just 18 minutes in, where we switched up to A and were level within 5 minutes.
8 minutes before half time we took the lead in the game and the tactics switched to E vs our P heading into half time.
Into the second half and we looked to build on our lead but a back and forth half meant going into the final minutes, we still held a slender lead and eventually the games 4th goal did come and thankfully it was a third for us and the points were sealed.
Statistically it was an even game, with us shading the shots on target section which is probably the reason we won the game. Good game Ian.
Cardiff City Chuffed to be a winner in first league game in charge I were rock bottom facing second bottom but now we overtake them with the win we've got a couple signings heading to us so hopefully we can keep getting positive results but again I'm happy with this outcome but there's still alot of work to be done here.
Nice win on the road, but had to work hard for it. Tony will be disappointed his team didn't get anything from this game I'm sure.
Both went passing, but we got the important goals, with defender Gorosabel surprisingly popping up with the double.
We had made a couple of changes, with two lads on their way out of the club relegated to the subs bench, which at least gave some squad players some minutes.
Up to second, and hopefully this week's deal might help things further
Unlucky Tony
Took the lead but that was the only positive. Another defeat in a game we need to be winning if we are going to cause problems at the upper end of the table. We have to improve, we must improve. Probably need to think a bit differently for the next game.
A very deserves loss and our second straight loss. Today we didn’t show up and the rivals from Leipzig got a very easy task getting the win over us. A poor performance overall and a performance to forget about.
Happy to win again after previous games but we still feel fragile in alot of the matches as to whether we perform or not and still not convinced. A goal each for Vlasic and Martial was enough but did expect a different result when confidence is low but three points is three points.
