We needed a result here in the WM Cup after the first game loss to Borussia Dortmund and, despite the fact we were a little light in attack with the injury to Cody Gakpo, got it we did. Reece Oxford scored his first goal of the season after being set up by fellow defender Pascal Struijk. Barnsley had claims for a penalty turned down before grabbing their equaliser courtesy of man of the match Erik Lamela. 10 minutes into the second half and it was our Polish defensive midfielder Jakub Moder who popped up to score what turned out to be the crucial winning goal. A relief to both sides was no cards or reported injuries resulted from this game. Stats wise we had a slight edge, but in all honesty it could have gone either way.

Good game Anthony. Be a shame if losing to a side with a higher wage total resulted in your resignation.

Next game for the Wolves is back to league action against Feyenoord. The good news is that Cody Gakpo will be back for that game.

        Stoke City 6 - 0 Sunderland

Sadly played a T sheet and the score reflects how much a deterrent a T should be for not sheeting.

Great abs and scoreline means the players gain some quality experience so some are close to rating up if not already.

A few more transfers at the end of this week should add a little quality and drop the age of the team.

Im hoping to make some cash in the next few weeks and then push to get the side further through this comp and in the league.

2 wins in the group out of 2 puts us in a great position. With Celtic up next we’re not home and dry we need to keep fighting!

          Sheffield Utd 0-4 Leicester

Kels, where are uuuu! and where are Pompey! I can't believe the mighty blues have left the game.
Did the expected against the T, and tbh it could have been more.
I'll take the points and the abs though, thank you
Kante had a great game, even starting to get amongst the goals, bonus!
In a nice position in the group, and maybe if I remember to sheet on time we might even get through

            Norwich 4 - 2 Derby

One of those games that doesn't help you enjoy this game at all. Norwich go one up and then go D, I have absolutely no problem with that, we all have a right to choose how we play a game. However what is frustrating is that from there they manage to score three more goals! It would have not been so frustrating if, in a previous game, when leading 3 -0 and went D, I lost 4 - 3!!

              Ajax 1 - 1 Borussia Dortmund

I was surprised to see Ajax give a start to their backup GK, I was expecting Rico to be in goal, but he wasn't even on their bench, a brave decision by the Ajax manager but one he got away with, although Alfredo in all likelihood, knows that we've been rubbish this season and was confident enough to play his 15 rated GK against us.

Anyway, the game ended all square at 1-1, all things considered, I'll take the point as with Wolves getting the win at Barnsley it keeps us at the top of the group for now at least. Barnsley up next in round 3 and neither of us in good form, so let's see how that goes.
