    Porto 1 - 0 Watford

Not much in the game, managed to nick the points. Probably didn’t deserve it to be honest but the engine seems to like Porto at the moment, only wish that was the case for Leeds.
3rd not bad, again I’ve no really idea of the quality of the teams in this league or where we should be. Just sheeting and reading the games and seeing where it gets to. Pedri is back next game so that’s slightly helpful.

    probably undeserved win.

      Königsblauen 0 - 1 Black Cats

Down to earth for Die Königsblauen. Radja Nainggolan scored for the visitors in the 5th minute and they decided to close the game with defensive tactic. We never had a replied to it, neither set up the right tactic, and suffered our first loss of the season.

      Well played David.

        Real Sociedad 1 - 1 Villarreal

Villarreal caretaker manager Ian Greaves left the Real Sociedad game gutted after witnessing his team suffer a last gasp goal to level up the scores. It was centre back Azahara Munoz who gave Greaves side a first half lead after smashing home a Crossfield ball from close range. Despite many more efforts created by both these teams Villarreal looked all set for victory that was until the very last kick of the game that saw a dramatic late equaliser for the home team. The draw was a fair result in all honesty but still gutting the manor in which the result came about.

          Florist 2-1 PSV

"I made a couple of errors tonight and made a mistake of throwing on someone from the backroom staff instead of our young forward who I didnt realise hadnt won his appeal to have his suspension lifted, it meant we got nothing and probably deserved nothing, we are slowly getting there with the shape of the squad but we've got a little bit left to go before we can settle down and watch this young team develop, Sepp (van den Berg) had his best game for us tonight and im sure he will continue to take strides to be the key man in our defence for years to come, not a great game at the other end of the pitch for us tonight as the opposition made it extremely difficult for us to play."

            Cardiff City 0
            Booked: C_Dawson (67), M_Simakan (76)

            Wolves 2
            M_Cuisance (21), Melendo (79)
            Injured: C_Gakpo (63)

            MotM: M_Cuisance (Wolves)
            HT: 0-1

Cardiff are a decent side with an excellent manager who rightly predicted I would try to counter their recent tactical trends. He did in brilliantly and we were certainly on the back foot early on and were very fortunate to get the first goal very much against the run of play. Michael Cuisance latched onto a ball from fellow midfielder Laszlo Benes and fired Wolves in front on 21 minutes with his first goal of the season. That enabled us to settle down and counter the attacking style the Bluebirds had set out to play. Things looked a bit bleak for Wolves just after the hour mark as new signing from PSV Cody Gakpo pulled up just after the hour mark with what looked like a hamstring problem. Thankfully it turned out not to be that serious and Gakpo will only miss the upcoming WM Cup game against Barnsley. Cuisance had what looked like a good second goal chalked off by the referee for a dubious foul on a defender as he went through on goal. Four minutes later though and the ball was in the back of the net again and this time it stood as our other new signing from PSV Quinten Timber crossed to Oscar Melendo who finished superbly and has now scored in consecutive games. Stats wise not a huge amount between the teams but we did look far sharper in front of goal.

Well played Simon, almost caught me out there!!

As mentioned above, our next game sees us visit Oakwell to play Barnsley in the WM Cup.

              Middlesbrough 1 - 0 Derby County

A close win against a very good team & manager. We were confident that Derby would play P, so C was the obvious choice and it didn't seem like it was going to pay off until S_Armstrong put us ahead with 22 minutes to go.

We matched Derby with P for the remainder of the game and we saw the game out to keep us top of the league.

Statistically it was a very poor game, with very few chances and we took ours and probably stole 2 points with a draw seemingly the right result.

              Good game Daz

                Sociedad 1-1 Villarreal

A fairly even game, but we just couldn't get the goal, that is until the 93rd minute, phew.
We even slightly edged it on stats, but weren't as clinical as we have been of late, and it looked like a defeat was on the cards until Navarro turned up late with the equalizer.
We tried a few tactical changes, but are limited in terms of formation by our limited squad.
A deal today might open up a few more options, but still happy enough with how the lads are doing.

                  Middlesboro 1 - 0 Derby

We just cannot seem to get a run going. We went a little more defensive but all that did was make us a dull team going forward. Boro are on a great run and they managed to find the one positive and took the game. The difference between a team at the top and a team at the bottom.

                  Well played Andy

                    Real Betis 4 - 1 RB Leipzig
One step forward, another step back. Consistency has deserted the team but on form Betis were due a win after 4 losses and it was us that was on the end of this pasting.

                      West Brom 2 - 0 Bristol City

Playing away to a decent team, this was always going to be a tough match.
I though that we had a 10% change of getting something here, but this was the other 90%.

Chances were at a premium, which probably counted against us with the Baggies having a lower rated keeper. Not worried about the results; we aren't playing badly and will continue to pick up points. There could be some transfer movement soon, once the self-imposed January transfer ban is lifted.
