Burnley 2 - 3 Liverpool

"We are inevitable"

Heartwarming banter before the massive cup game against Burnely was all what was needed to rile up the Reds and run riots at Turf Moor. The 51004 A is a tactic which has undoubtedly given me great nights (don't try to spin this off), will we persist with the tactic or use it for special nights like these? Time will tell but I loved the build up to this game, felt like I was back in prime Easy Football League.

Sunderland 0-2 Aston villa

I'm not going to pretend that this was a straight forward game for Villa because it wasn't, what we did manage to do was keep the opposition at arms length. Two first half goals from Jovic and Salah sealed the tie for us and despite the home side playing some good football and pushing hard to get back in The Villans progressing in a reasonably comfortable fashion.

palace 1-2 Leeds

Not a very good performance on the whole but managed to get over the line. Mostly this season we have played well and gotten spanked, so this is a nice change. But certainly can relate to Lee who may be a bit pissed with this result.
I don’t think we are going to pull up many trees in the league as we are already playing catch up so a cup run is very much needed. So this is a pleasing result for us.
Happy to be through and happy we finally have a full squad to chose from.

Newcastle United 0 - 1 Chelsea

Into the QF we go, but in my opinion we were lucky, and Toon can count themselves unlucky not to progress. Im not moaning and will take the 0-1 win and move on, because this game is very much swings and round-abouts, and Ive been on the end of a few of these results myself in the past. Im pleased that Eddy scored again, and thats 5 each in all competitions for him, and Richarlison so things ok in the striker department for once. Unlucky for the toon, but we are still in their fighting, and Ive got to be pleased with that.

Fulham 3 - 4 Arsenal

Arsenals poor start to the season very nearly continued as they only just scraped through the second round game against Fulham at Craven Cottage. The Gunners have not had the best of starts and when they went two doen, fans started to leave the stadium but they found their feet and got back into the game in the second half and at 3-3 it took sub Sallai to get his first for the club and what a vital goal it was. The gaffer spoke after the game ;

" When you play a side in a lower division its always a potential banana skin and Im sure they would have seen our start and hoped to heap more pressure on us and they did just that. We managed to get back and find some sort of control of the game and scored the winner in what was a great game but nervy for us at the same time. In all honesty we should be coming to places like this and not being put under as much pressure as we were today so its clear that something is adrift in this side somewhere ".
