    Lazio 0-0 Juve

in a much anticipated game v Andy’s juve side, that last season dared to dream of the title, and was good for it, brought a sense of nervousness in any manager.

and what ensued was a cancelling of each other out with C, I predicted the C but probably bottled countering it, shame on me.

into the match, nothing really to report, 10 shots to 9 and 5 to 2 on target.

    but to the controversy.

90 minutes, Osimhen scores, celebrates and then the ref, a lifelong Juventus fan, takes it to Var, another Juventus fan and without any reason at all the goal is ruled out,

Got a point, but deserved 3,

    Lucky boy Banks.

      Lisbon 3-1 Leverkusen

We came, we saw, we left empty handed.

The aim of this game was to try and out wit Gary, expecting an E as we expected him to think we would go C, so played P to try and focus on our strengths. Nothing played out as my complicated mind expected and we left, having conceded 3, no thanks to our obvious weakness in goal.

      well played Gaz

Hopton: “we decided to come and try and play football at Lisbon, but left realising we are not at that level yet, maybe the win last week gave us fake hope, but we need to go back to basics and ensure we defend first and foremost and then try and score, much work to be done if we are to become a European team again.”

        PSG 4-1 Celtic (me)

Expected really. Thought they’d set up similar to what they did. Went for a new formation tbh, just to selfishly play both Rashford and Boadu.

”A write off this one. The class difference is incredible, however am very disappointed to have gone two goals down early on. Rashford pulled one back to make it slightly interesting but then the class of PSG took over as we were soundly beaten. Mar Antonio was super missed today but the result wouldn’t have changed. All the best to PSG in their quest to defend their title. I think they may just do it.”

          Marseille 1 Atletico Madrid 3

          GG Euan.

Diaby and Fati put us 0-2 in front. Marseille pulled one back but Diaby finished the job late in the game.
The shot count was 11-25 and therefore a deserved victory that sees Atletico move top of the league.
Good debuts from Cairney and Glik who have finally found the squad balance we needed.
Next up in the league is the free-scoring champions PSG who are averaging 4 goals per game.

Marsh commented "We got the job done against one of the weakest sides in the league. 13points is a very good haul but the tough games are now commencing. I think we are looking strong now after a few players re-rated and hopefully we can continue to progress. The board is happy with the league position and the bank manager is happy with £114m cashed".

Nice to see Pasalic score on his Palace debut. We wish him well.

            Roma 1 2 Rangers

Now we are league leaders Szczesny decided it was a good time to return to his early season form of conceding 50% of shots faced.

Rangers smartly totally confused the Roma players by playing Long Ball without any forwards. As the Roma defenders pondered who Rangers were trying to send their long balls to, Weghorst snook in and put the Scottish side ahead. Predictably Rangers then switched to all out defense and without making any to attempt attack Hlozek somehow managed to score a second.

Roma pushed on as they sought to rescue the game and some self-respect but found Trapp more than equal to the task.

gg Well done on the tactical masterclass Burrows.

Sporting Lisbon 3 Bayer Leverkusen 1

Following on from their defeat away to Monaco on Thursday, it was important that Sporting Lisbon got back to winning ways as soon as possible. What better game to achieve that than against Jason Hopton's Bayer Leverkusen.

A long time ago in a galaxy far far away.... Jason's Wolfsburg beat Windebank's Sporting Lisbon 3-0 and an avalanche of gloating spill out of Mr Hopton. Since that freak result Windebank has continued to put Hopton in his place and today was not different against Jason's rebranded non European qualifying club.

Both sides started with the same 5-1-0-0-4 formation with Windebank electing to Attack and Hopton taking a considered passing approach to the game.

Leverkusen could not cope with the dynamic Sporting Lisbon team as they tried to repel attack after attack. A goal was coming and in the 14th minute Matteo Politano put the Portuguese side 1-0 up.

Sporting Lisbon matched Leverkusen in the passing tactic and with Leverkusen not having one action since kick off the ever impressive midfield general Casemiro went on a mazy run before dispatching an unstoppable shot to make it 2-0 after 22 minutes.

This however led to the game being more even as the cocksure Windebank could smell blood and with a wounded Hopton grabbed by the throat Windebank barked for his players to go on the attack, Hopton is a wily manager and ordered his charges to play the Normal tactic which led to Leverkusen having the tactical advantage and a lot more of the ball. To be fair that was not hard as they had not had one action of note so far.

The home side could hear the kettle and kitchen sink being thrown at the Leverkusen players at half time as thunderous shouting and a Hopton anger fit meant that after the game repair work was required in the away dressing room. This anger outburst done the trick though as Leverkusen came out for the 2nd half looking a different team.

Leverkusen were piling on the pressure and in the 64th minute De Vrij saw his effort come of the post but he duly slotted in the rebound to half the deficit.

Windebank ordered his team to start passing the ball which meant that tactical advantage swung back to the home side and Sporting Lisbon started totake control of the game again.

In the 72nd minute the three points were secured Frenkie De Jong showed his class to make the points secured and pull the score to 3-1.

Both sides decided to attack but the final whistle went and the Sporting Lisbon fans were celebrating moving up to 3rd in the League just one point off of Atletico Madrid.

Bayern Leverkusen edged possession with 52% but Sporting Lisbon created 15 shots to Leverkusen 9 with Sporting Lisbon having 9 shots on target to Leverkusen's 6.

              Windebank Post Match Comments

I have to admit beating Jason's teams really makes me smile so I am well chuffed with this great result.

The lads were really disappointed being well beaten by Monaco and they wanted to bounce back, which they did in empathic style today.

To be 3rd and a point off of the top after the first 5 games is a great achievement considering the teams we have faced.

We have to enjoy these moments as historically we fall to pieces, the challenge for the players is to keep these result up for as long as possible.

Good game as always Jason, thanks for making this a special game in the fixture calendar.

                Dortmund 4 - 2 Real Madrid

"Yeah, we pretty much got screwed here again. Second time in a row we have been robbed. We doubled their shot count at 29-15, corners at 7-0 and got a good percentage of shots to our best 4 shooters but we still lost 4-2. Once again, I guess, that's football (esms)."

                  Lazio 0 - 0 Juventus

A bore draw away to our fellow Italians. We've started the season poorly, but we've played some good teams so hopefully we kick on from here.

A cautious approach by both teams with both playing C, it was destined to be a draw.

There's not much to even speak about in the game, other than the disallowed goal in the last minute for Lazio, their fans will think it should have counted and ours will think the right decision was made. In all honesty, you see them given both ways and today it went in our favour.

Statistically, it was a very even game so a draw was the fair result. Some half decent abs for SOME of our players.

Onto our next game, Sevilla in the 2nd round of the cup. Struggling to find our mojo this season, but with a few players not miles away from rating up we will go into the later stages of the season stronger which will help us.

                  Good game Drum.

                    Sevilla 1 - Monaco 0

After our unexpected victory over Sporting Lisbon in our last match we retained the same starting 11 that have been performing well for us in the most part this season.

The first half was a relatively even affair and we got to the break with the scores even at 0-0, with their first attack of the second half Sergi Darder opened his Sevilla account for the season causing a slight reshuffle in the Monaco pack.

Just after the hour mark we brought on giant New Zealander Chris Wood to give a different shape to the attack but we then didnt make the most of that option and couldn't get an equaliser let alone get a winner.

Stats suggest that we deserved to get something from the game, there will be games this season where we don't play as well and take a result that we don't deserve.

Good game Stew, good luck for the rest of the season.

                      Inter Milan 3 - 1 Bayern Munchen

                      "Alisson transfer listed"

The headline sums it up, a class goalkeeper being listed in a fit of rage by manager Jon Banks. Conceding 3 and saving 3, not the best return by any stretch of imagination. Sources say the keeper was bribed in order to force a move to Liverpool, where the permanent manager is keen on signing the Brazilian for a swap deal and cash to Liverpool for Alisson. We march up the table with sights set on challenging for the league title. Upsetting all the odds along the way.

The battle of the red and white stripes sees us get our first league win of the season ... and we were lucky when you look at the stats ...

Straight from kick off we lumped it forward and Darder caught them out with what turned out to be the winner ...

It was strange seeing 2 ex players line up against us in Smalling and Immobile who left in the close season as part of the renaming extravaganza ...but we wish them well ..

Another 2 bookings .. need to focus on this ..

                          Barcelona 1 AC Milan 1

A disappointing result especially after we made the perfect start scoring immediately. Despite creating chance after chance we just couldn't get a 2nd goal and it didn't really surprise me when Milan equalised. In fairness they're a capable outfit with plenty of talent but it's still a game we expected to win.

It certainly didn't help that I ballsed up my conditionals forgetting to bring my 18 striker off the bench so really I can have no complaints. Careless stuff.

                            Roma 1 2 Rangers

Well we'll never expected to get a result like that against Roma but we'll take it went for a completely different formation as normal for us we had two players out by suspension, goals from
W_Weghorst and A_Hlozek was enough to sink Roma

                              Valencia 2 - 2 Eintracht Frankfurt

This should have been the turn around game for Valencia after a slow and poor start to the season. However it was mared with missed opportunities and bad disipline.

Alex Witsel on loan from Roma once against saw red for the second time this season (5 Games). Any chance of a come back after the 75th was always an up hill battle.

We roll on to the next game hoping for the tide to turn.
