BONANZA DETAILS COMING SOON
A quality performance at home even though The Robins must feel they deserved better. Offensively we did very well and tonight we was helped by some outstanding attacking play from our defenders.
Cedric Brunner and Thomas Ouwejan scored one each from full back positions and when Simon Terodde added our third after an hour played the game was won. Han-Noah Massengo scored a consulation goal for the visitors and it ruined a perfect evening when we didn’t manage to keep a clean sheet. No matter, three points won and still unbeaten after five games.
The Villarreal caretaker manager was fuming with his players just five minutes into this game as his side let in a very sloppy goal to gift the opponent a dream start. Thankfully from the home teams point of view the team got it together following the early set back and played probably some of their best football under the new gaffer. It did though take until the second period for Villarreal to find the back of the Atalanta goal but that was soon followed by two further strikes as in the end the home team looked comfortable taking all three points.
I was lazy with my tactics for this game and played what I thought was a bit safe and the lads out there were really not on their game at all against a good well managed Middlesbrough side. Despite that it was a pretty evenly fought out in first half at the Riverside, but it was the second half that saw all the goal action. Muniz popped the home side in front, but we got straight back on terms 4 minutes later when Melendo got our equaliser. The home side kept at us and eventually broke us down to take the lead. Sadly we never looked like getting back on terms over the last 20 minutes. With a return of one shot on target from 10 attempts I think these boys are in desperate need of some intensive shooting practice. Only saving grace was we actually scored from our one shot on target!! We really need our front two to up their game soon if we are going to have a decent season. Plus our two season investment in one of the top keepers in FFO2 isn't really paying off at the moment. Hopefully time will improve this.
Needless to say Muniz was the standout player for the home side rightly getting the MotM accolade. It's no surprise that we have been watching this player, but I doubt we'll be able to prise him away from the North East side.
Very well played AB, fully deserved three points.
Next game up for Wolves is a home game in the league as we play host to Ajax from Amsterdam.
"Probably landed on the fortunate side for us today, Betis had a lot of chances, luckily Walter (Benitez) had an absolute stormer in the sticks and then Noni (Madueke) was unplayable again today finding 2 key assists to get the points for us, really pleased with the debut of one of our new young lads Santi (Gimenez) who only took a minute to endear himself to the fans, our new star youngsters in Joao Pedro and Sepp van den Berg had good performances as well, when Betis equalised we looked a bit sloppier but we made a couple of changes and having the ability to bring on someone as good as Donyell (Malen) can be the difference in a game and it was for us tonight, came on and linked beautifully with Noni and netted his 4th of the season to get us the result. We needed a win, its been a tough last couple of league games, I said after the last game id be happier once wed made our last wedge of transfers until probably mid season to get the lads in and get them settled and it means the lads and I will now be even happier to get a win to go along with that also"
A big result against a very good team & manager combo, one that I expect to be up there by the end of the season.
C vs C and the first half was a bit of a non event with the scores being level by half time, and with neither team really making inroads into taking the lead.
11 minutes int the second half, Muniz was slipped through and despite the best efforts of M_Neuer, the ball crossed the line and we took the lead.
We gave up TA and it took Wolves just 3 minutes to pull level which was disappointing. With less than 20 minutes to go, the games final goal was scored and it was F_Bernadeschi who slotted away to give us the win and all 3 points.
Statistically it was a pretty even game, with us shading it so it could have gone either way, fortunately it went our way.
This result puts us up into 2nd, something that didn't seem likely early on in the season. Good game Ray
Wow, what a game. Somehow the lads came back from 3-0 down at half-term and looking dead and buried to score four in the second half and take the 3 points! 5/5 wins as caretaker now, with luck like this, it looks a good match.
It looked all over at 3, and Derby went D, but maybe that was their downfall?
Silva and Sadiq impressed again, and got amongst the goals, Derby must be in shock, particularly after the last minute winner went in.
Overall it looked a fairly even game, but we were more clinical on the day, unlucky dude.
Top of the league baby
Porto have inherited Leeds luck. Deserved to win this but conceded two equalisers poorly. Injury luck continues to with my best player Pedri out for 2 games. You couldn’t make it up.
decent performance though so they are still doing ok. Hopefully they can continue tomorrow cheer me up and distract me from Leeds being dog shit.
next up…… another conference side. Doesn’t matter who. We’ll play our game
Season 2 Premier League Champions - Leeds
Season 2 Conference Champions - Porto
Predicted a tough match and slunk to a disappointing defeat. Managed more attempts (and more on target) but couldn't get past Schalke keeper Schwolow more than once, while Dan Bentley in the City goal managed to concede 3 out of the 5 shots.
I was determined to try and keep things tight and reduce the number of chances in the game, which worked effectively until the 3rd minute when we fell behind to the first chance. Game plan ripped up.
A decent away point after previous games although lucky in that we had to comeback twice to get the draw. Just keep plugging away and stealing points as we go. Milik and Martial need help, goalwise from our midfield if we are to continue with some decent form.
