It has been a rough start for Leverkusen, but following a failed attempt to leave for Inter, we knuckled down and decided to try and kick start or season. Got our tactics spot on and sailed into a 2 goal lead via key striker Jimenez and ever steady NKoulou. Following these two goals and a switch up in tactics by Valencia the game steadily died.

    Hopton:
”it feels great to get our first points of the season following a tough start and a tricky run of fixtures. Hopefully this will be the start of a steady rise up the table to the mid table zone which we feel we should be finishing consistently year after year.

I need to look at my squad and bulk out the depth and bring down the age but this will take time. I’ve got a good team and I believe in them, this should be enough to secure European football for next season.”

Well played sanchez. Pretty even game after that first spell.

Valencia manager Matt Rose has been quiet since his public quotes about Leverkusen boss Jason Hopton. He was quick to point out that comments made pre game where taken wildly out of context and he has nothing but admiration for Hopton.

The game itself was a bit of a disapointment for Valencia and tops a string of equally disapointing results. Rose stated that the best team won in the end, Valencia just need to regroup and try find a foothold to gain league position going forward.
