Teamsheets MUST be in by 3pm on Game Day
BONANZA DETAILS COMING SOON
Villarreal manager Ian Greaves was left a little dented after this game believing this was an opportunity for three points missed. Overall the game was a very even affair but with Wolverhampton on the front foot and yes looking very dangerous his side had plenty of opportunities on the break to punish the home team. Greaves went on to say: "Problem for us is we don't have the quality on the pitch that most other sides have, but that said we had enough chances to hurt our opponents today but was just unable to capitalise. in the end you have to say a draw was the fairest result but I just cant help but think we should have done better up top".
Facing any of the teams Nick is managing away from home is always a tough task and we was in for a lesson at the opening stages of the game. Kenneth Taylor and Oussama Idrissi scored one each inside three minutes to put the home side two goals up. Joaquin Correa brought us back in the game four minutes before the break and we was back in it. We went into the dressing room knowing we had to turn things around in the second half and we got the perfect response.
Defensively we did ever so well and when Simon Terodde sloted home a spot kick late in the game we came away with a point. A good result for us especially knowing we fell two goals down.
We have, for the most part, the better quality players and we had home advantage so we took a punt at going a bit gung ho for this game. Big mistake as the yellow submarine countered us superbly throughout and their players showed a lot of grit and determination to fully deserve at least the draw. Stats wise there was precious little between the two sides and on the whole both defense's and keepers had the opposing strikers in their respective pockets. So we remain unbeaten but is this a sign we are going to replicate last seasons run of far too many draws which may ultimately scupper our season once more? Upside for both teams, no injuries or cards shown.
Very well played Ian good point as you start to rebuild Villarreal.
Next game for Wolves sees us travel to the Riverside for a Conference league match against AB's Middlesbrough side.
"I think these last 2 games have shown us where we are at, we came down and had the aim to rebuild and develop into a team that would be stronger when we returned to the EFL, our hope was that we would be able to do this and secure promotion in the same season, but these last 2 games have proved to me that we are much more on the development track than the winning games and returning to the efl track, we werent 0-4 losers out their tonight and there were some good performances all over the park, but it is what it is and unfortunately we now have to focus on this team and the development and we will re evaluate our position at the middle of the season."
With Andreas Weimann sent off on just 12 minutes with things still goalless, I wasn't too optimistic about the way the balance of the match would pan out. Thankfully we had the hope support and managed to conjure up two goals before half time.
Pike said "We're going on a nice little run at the moment and hoping to continue the momentum. Things won't always go our way, but we are being positive and going into games looking to get results. It would be nice to finish a match with 11 men though in future."
"We travel to Schalke next for what I believe will be our toughest test so far. They've got a decent side and already shown flexibility in their tactics. They might be mid-table at the moment but they're undefeated and I expect them to be right at the top come the end of the season. I've already told the players the team and submitted our sheet, so we're as ready as we can be for it"
Brilliant result for us today, up against a team who had won their first 3 games this season.
We gave up TA however, we took the lead straight away and Fulham came at us so the next goal was key and it came for us in the 37th minute and we went into the break on the attack and with a healthy lead.
Into the second half and we added 3 more in an 8 minute spell (58th, 59th & 66th minutes) to put the game way beyond the hosts and that's how the game ended despite Fulham putting the ball into the net, only to have it disallowed.
Statistically we were the better team, however not by 5 goals.
good win for my second side. Played well and to be fair deserved the three points.
mom not really sure what we should be aiming for if I’m honest. Haven’t necessarily got a grasp on what teams in this division are like. I assume there are some good managers and Sam, so I don’t know what we are aiming for. I guess just as high as possible.
thats zouma rated up. Always helpful
Season 2 Premier League Champions - Leeds
Season 2 Conference Champions - Porto
Woo, 4 wins out of 4 as caretaker, though we were lucky to come out of this one with 3 points.
Leipzig started with the counter but quickly went two goals behind, so then went attacking and created a lot of chances.
If it wasn't for the fine young Sociedad keeper it could have been very different.
Silva and Sadiq performed well, and Sadiq now leads the Conference scorers.
Up to third and in good form
Unlucky dude
We went out there today and bossed the game in all stats. WE held possession well and actually created alot of chances and looked very dangerous. We were 100% at our best today and we need more performances like this if we want to be in the mix come the end of the season. They won't all be this score line and we expect PSV to bounce right back in their next game.
Another inconsistent performance from RB Leipzig we can't seem to string together a decent run of games where the confidence can built up. A change in tactics will be tried out to see if if that will work. Onto the match, Real Sociedad who are on a good run of games and it showed with there competent teamwork that it was going to be tough for Leipzig going two goals down after ten minutes then the third on the half hour.
The game was over for RB then even after pulling just one back. A reset is needed before we fall into a very bad run
