Sheff utd 2-1 Cardiff

It was a game we knew we could win under the right conditions, short on defenders we had to rely on Verratti to fill the gap, took a 2 goal lead before they dragged one back, but we luckily held on for the win taking us into round 2. Cardiff may feel a littlr hard done by though as the game didnt look in favor of us based on the stats

Sheff Wed 4 - 0 Derby

I am sure Bradwell Jnr will be very happy about trouncing Bradwell Snr. First goal did not go our way and from then on it was all downhill. Sheff Wednesday were worthy winners and we wish them well for the rest of the tournament.

Crystal Palace 1-1 Manchester United (4-2 penalties)

Well I didn't expect this. The team sheet was sent in the nick of time and as Steve mentioned, was predictable. When United scored first I thought it was game over. Somehow we grabbed the late equaliser and won out in penalties. One of the big boys is now out when we really expected to be out instead.

Manchester City 3-1 Stoke City

Another fast start from the lads scoring in the first few minutes, and not allowing Stoke to find their rhythm. Another in the 16th min from Phil gave us a healthy lead and the game was over as a contest by the 30th min when Ruben Dias scored a contender for goal of the season with a bicycle kick. Credit to Stoke they didnt give in and kept fighting and scored what turned out to be a consolation in the 57th min.

City boss Lovell was asked for his opinion on the game "Yeah it was a good solid performance from the team. Looking back at it we made the changes to bring on the squaddies too early and this probably cost us a few more goals. We need to to get our strikers involved a bit more, so the lads will be working harder in training to find and there shooting boots."

Newcastle United 2-2 NOTTINGHAM FOREST
(Newcastle win 4-2 on pens)

Really good cup tie, and encouraging to see us hold our own against a strong Premier League side. It does somehow feel like a case of what could have been, having been 2-1 in front with 9 minutes to play. We were daring to dream at this point, but Newcastle's extra bit of quality (mainly in the form of de Tomas) saw them through, even if it was via a penalty shoot out.

A good run out for the lads and some good minutes in the legs. Looking forward to our first home game of the season against Middlesbrough in the league on Thursday.

Southampton win the penalty shootout!

Came into this game abit to confident i think, went attacking from the start thinking it would be an easy game how we were wrong.
Once again we are our own worst enemy conceding the first goal, fair play to Bristol they took us all the way even tho we had way better stats we just leaked goals to easy
