      Burnley 3-4 MANCHESTER UNITED

It's a great start to the season and to beat one of the best sides in the division is great, especially after they beat us in the cup final last season, this feels like a bit of retribution.

But, as the game went on, from a two goal and a man lead, we didn't kill it off, I think had we got the 3rd goal between us we'd have steam rolled the tie but we got a bit cautious and naive at times and maybe showed too much respect but we clung on and saw the game out and the boys can be happy with their days work.

Reporter: "Karim Adeyemi came off after 65 minutes...... He seemed to be doing OK, but why withdraw him when you did?"

It comes down to tactical choices, I've wanted him for a long time and it's great to see him finally pull on the red shirt, but despite the investment we felt that we needed a bit more energy and with Anthony (Elanga) playing a bit deeper that was the difference in the final goal which he scored, so despite what you say he did his bit, his replacement did his so good work from the squad, which we'll need this season"

        Leeds 3 - 3 Leicester

tried to go more positive to start the new season and new era and we end up 3 bloody goals down. We then went for it even more after that and battered them. To be honest we were easily the better side and if we hadn’t been so embarrassingly gash defensively we would have easily won this. Stats wise we did deserve the three points but we ended being unlcuky and dropping two points to a side we should have beaten.

Kirby is a rubbish manager and it’s embarrassing dropping points at home. Let’s hope things improve next game.

        cheers Neil

          Stoke City 2 - 2 Tottenham Hotspur

First game back in the prem and we had to dig deep to share the points. Spurs are a tough side to play against, however we setup to our strengths and had the lions share of the game.

That doesn’t always mean you’ll win the game though and 2 times we had to equalise to save the game.

New captain Forsberg showing why he was chosen with a brace and the MOTM award.

I was pleased with the performance and how we put pressure on Spurs but we need to try and reduce how many we concede if we’re to beat relegation this season!

Good game Thomas, good luck with the season!

Man City in the domestic cup Tuesday, will need every ounce of luck around for that game!

            Barnsley 1-2 Manchester City

Barnsley are back in the big time, and it didn't get any bigger than hosting the current champions, Manchester City. I was delighted by the sides performance, and even though we suffered a defeat, we really stepped up and showed that hopefully we can fight to stay up this season and are just not making up the numbers.

Reporter: Anthony, can you tell us how you're really feeling after the side's first Prem appearance in almost 3 years?
Anthony: Mate, I am delighted with the output of energy and effort. To have 12 shots against the champions and almost snatch a late equaliser means that when we get it right, we may be tough to beat.

Reporter: New signing Draxler was immense, so why was he taken off at the hour mark? He had 4 key passes!
Anthony: Sometimes you make decisions a little earlier in the game and we wanted to give Kent a run as we know from last season (80+ key passes) he can be a real threat. It didn't pay off, and the same with subbing Delort and bringing on young Potter instead of the creative and clinical Solanke. I will learn from this.

Reporter: The best on ground for them home side was new signing Zappacosta, thoughts on the performance?
Anthony: He was brilliant. He truly showed what he can do and I am expecting a real solid season from him. Fellow defender Ismailly got the only goal too! In fact, all three goals in this game from defenders! Maxi in goal can be happy he kept some of the best players in the whole world quiet, but hey we move on to a cup game against Chelsea which will be brutally tough too.

              Aston Villa 4 - 1 Norwich City

Luka Jovic the Aston Villa front man stole the show in this opening day thriller at Villa park notching up his first ever hat trick for the Club. The supporters of both teams couldn't have wished for a finer spectacle on the day with The Cannaries also playing a big part despite the heavy defeat. The first 20 minutes saw the away side constantly threatening on the counter but it was Jovic who broke the deadlock going through one on one to nudge Villa ahead. At this point the game really opened up and saw Jovic go on to complete his hat trick with Norwich also deservedly grabbing a goal back. Villa boss Ian Greaves was quick in praising the efforts of the away team following the game and also went on to praise his own teams trio of debutants Elder Militao, Florian Wirtz and front man Lautaro Martinez who scored the final goal for the rampant Aston Villa.

                Newcastle 4 - 0 Arsenal

Arsenal stepped back out onto the pitch for the first time this season and will be thinking that they wish they hadn't. Facing the only side in the division not to send a sheet, it went the way of the home side with Arsenal facing a demolition job to get their season underway although Arsenal will rightfully feel hard done by to lose by that big a score line.

                The Arsenal boss spoke this morning ;

" Think the only way to describe that one is that they got away with one really after not showing up and walking away with three points, four goals and a clean sheet. We should have put more of a fight up but we have enough quality to come to places like this and win but to be fair, we didn't expect a set tactic in this one, their Manager is usually solid in the dugout so surprised he wasn't their but from our point of view, very disappointed to leave here on the back end of a 4-0 defeat because our performance didn't deserve that especially when it was won in the manner it was but thankfully it was only round one and we can try and put that behind us and make it right in round two ".

                  Potters 2 - 2 Spurs

A decent start to the season but you must think we was a little lucky at Britannia Stadium. The host controlled the game but against run of play we had the lead twice. A little annoying to see us throwing it away but nothing more than we deserved.

A point on opening day is always a good outcome and something to build from.

All the best for the season Mike and thanks for a good encounter.

                    Burnley 3 – 4 Manchester United
It is our habit to start the season with poor results and this match was no exception. We were the better team at the beginning, yet Sancho scored two early goals for United out of nothing. Then Goncalo Guedes got his second yellow in minute 25. Some of the fans already started to leave the stadium as there was no reason for hope while losing 2-0 in ten men against one of the best teams in the league.

However, somehow we managed to keep the pace and scored three goals making the game a drama until the final whistle. But it was simply not enough.

Overall, the match was very equal despite our early red card and we were actually close to a point. Also some nice abs for our key players. If we manage to stay disciplined, we can easily beat United next time.

                      Leeds 3-3 Leicester

New season, same old story for Leicester, who were involved in many high scoring games last season.
It started brilliantly, with Alario, Bellotti and Di Maria all on fire, and helping Leicester into a 3-0 lead away at a strong Leeds side.
However, despite countering the attacking Leeds side, we could not hold on to get the 3 points, and Leeds deservedly got back into the game to earn a draw.

In the post match interview manager Kirby expressed his disappointment. ''We really need to defend better, it cost us last season, and it will cost us even more in the Premiership. Perhaps we need to practice playing defensively, it's not something that comes naturally to the team, but we may need to be pragmatic.''

And what of the post match comments from Leeds manager Davey ''I don't want to be too harsh on him, with his obvious disability'' the fans were less generous though, with a good rendition of 'I can't read and I can't write, but I can drive a tractorrrr' aimed at Davey

                        Chelsea 2 Sheffield Wednesday 1

Great start for once, against a tough manager and side.Good to see Edward on target, and Tammy putting a shift in,despite his pending transfer to PSV in exchange for Richarlison on the horizon. I'm hopeful Chelsea can do better this season, as we have a stronger squad, in particular the depth of the squad which was very much lacing.Good game mate.

                          Sheffield United 1 - 2 Liverpool

"A sending off saves the day for Liverpool!"

The Merseyside outfit travelled to Sheffield, home to the Blades. The Blades were in complete control of the game surprising the visitors with an aggressive attacking tactic and formation to match with it. Yannick_Freakin_Carassco helped the reds to draw level after a pathetic start. A red card to Foyth in the closing stages opened up the hosts by which A_Silva was able to win it in the 90th minute, saving the red's blushes.

                            United 1-2 Liverpool

A dissapointing start for the season for us, a fairly even game which we led for a while, they pulled a goal back which felt fair all things considered but the sending off was the turning point and liverpool took control of the game grabbing the second goal and taking all 3 points back to merseyside with them, its early days though so plenty of time to change things
