    PSG 1 - 2 Inter

game 1 we toss everything including the kitchen sink at them, away from home against the champions and got rewarded for it, a massive result in what I can honestly say has been my most unenthusiastic start of a season in a long time, its no secret I’ve been on the verge of leaving management for some time now but results like this remind me why we do it and the team we are continuing to build upon season after season.
Ed I’m sure will disagree that we deserved the win, but I will disagree with that, not many teams will play like that away against PSG this season but we have lay down a marker and a blueprint for others to not fear them and you may just get a result.

We conceded in the first minute of the game, but the players showed the heart to keep going and soon enough brought us back level, we continued with the one tactic while PSG tinkered away like Claudio Ranieri on speed but come the 64th minute unlikely goal scorer G_Di_Lorenzo popped up with the winner and that was that. The stats were even and a big three points in our quest to remain a Champions League club, looking at other results its nice to see that superior better team Bayern Munich accept failure as usual.

    GG Ed Ranieri

      Barcelona 3 Lazio 2

An exciting game from which we ultimately emerged victorious having surrendered a two goal lead.

We stuck with a passing approach throughout and the stats certainly suggest we were worthy of the win but our age old problem of shipping goals too easily reared it’s head again. Lazio are a very capable outfit but it’s still a concern to see our new look GK and defence crumble so easily.

On the plus side it’s good to start with a win against a strong team and we also had some excellent individual performances none more so than Jesus. Hopefully a sign of things to come for him.

      Good game Drum.

"We had a dream start, with midfielder Vitinha scoring in the first minute. Unfortunately it was downhill from that point. On 17 minutes our keeper has made a clumsy challenge and gifted them a penalty. Even when level i expected us to go on and win the game, but we got sucker punched mid way through the second half. We huffed and puffed but just couldnt get back into the game. Games between the two teams are normally even, and the stats would suggest that a draw would have been the correct result on this occasion. However, the result says otherwise.

        GG GS"

            Frankfurt 0 - 4 Real Madrid

"Frankfurt turtled up from the start and didn't pop their little reptile head out even when down. So it was kinda satisfying to smash them silly in the first half with two goals from Sterling, and one apiece from Locatelli and wonder boy Harvey Elliot. Special praise goes to Elliot who is now as good a finisher as Sterling now in my book. He's repaid the faith we have shown in him by selling off the older Coman to a lower ranked team and I'm expecting a good season for him again.

I'm a little disapointed that it was only four nil to be honest with you. From 23 shots on goal, only 5 was on target of which we converted 4. So if we got more on target it could have been a cricket score, but then Frankfurt did camp inside their own box and made us pepper their goal. But I expect better finishing in the next game."

              Valencia 4 – 2 Celtic

Opening game of the next season and rebranded league. Having had a period of time off for the holidays Valencia boss Matt Rose was worried about his team’s lack of match fitness. Valencia hosted Scottish team Celtic as their opening match and what an opening it was.

Celtic shocked the Mestella faithful after just one minute and by the 35th Valencia was 2-1 down with goals coming from new signing Serge Gnabry (Valencia) in the 17th and Almerion (Celtic) in the 35th. Half time couldn’t have come quicker for Valencia.

Second half and the home side came out a completely different team. Whatever Matt Rose said in that dressing room seemingly worked. On loan recruit Axel Witsel slotted home in the 48th only to get himself sent off in the 69th for a second bookable offence. With Valencia down to ten men and drawing 2-2 the pressure was on.

Hero of the previous season Alex Berenguer to the rescue in the 82nd minute with a beautiful volley sending the Mestella crazy – 3-2 and eight minutes to go.

85th minute and another one of Valencia’s loanees in the form of Maxence Caqueret produces some excellent individual skill to skip past four players and slot the ball through to new signing Max Watters from Cardiff. Watters lashed the ball at goal only to have the Celtic keeper parry his shot, Watters however was too quick and tapped the rebound past the floundering keeper to end the game at a comfortable 4-2.

Despite Valencia playing the last part of the game with only ten men the stats clearly show they were the stronger team and a result worthy of their efforts.

Hard luck to Celtic, who may well be in for a tough time this season.

              Good Game.
