Inter 1 - PSG 1 (PSG win on penalties)

After 2 victories over PSG in the league I was fully expecting defeat in this one, and when my keeper went off injured against Milan meaning he missed this game my feeling was only reinforced.

We elected to leave out Castagne and Adli from the Milan game but brought them back for the cup final, also pushing Paqueta and Coman into striking positions.

We took the lead in the first minute as Coman grabbed his 11th of the season and we were looking to hold on from there. Coman went off injured in the 73rd minute and was replaced by Abada before PSG equalised in the 90th minute through MBappe.

Half time saw no further goals and ih the end a forward line including MBappe, Haaland, Ramos and Vitinha was too much for our reserve keeper from the penalty spot.

Good game Ed - I was literally 2 minutes from being 3 for 3 for the season!

Inter 1 - PSG 1 (PSG win on penalties)

We went into the game having suffered defeats both home and away to Inter Milan in the league. We had the advantage going into this game, courtesy of an injured GK for our opponents. I was surprised to see Inter start with an attacking tactic. We had a specific gameplan, but it all went out of the window when we conceded a dubious goal in the first action of the game. Our Achilles Heel all season has been the inability to score first in big games. Credit to Inter - they didnt switch to D like a lot of big teams like to hide behind. We continued to prod and probe, but the 20 rated keeper was having a blinder (would go on to get 80 abs). It wasnt looking like it would be our day, until super sub Mbappe levelled the tie in the 90th minute. Both teams continued to throw caution to the wind, like 2 heavyweights slugging it out, with A v A, but there were no further goals in extra time. Unfortunately, there was no fairytale ending for the Inter reserve GK, as the quality of the PSG GK and forwards finished the job in the penalty shootout.

I have lost 2 CL finals on penalties so have sympathy for Johnboy. On shotcount, i beleive we did enough to win the game, irrespective of the rating of the Inter GK, although with the players on the pitch I would have expected a 2-5 scoreline. Both keepers have had good games. We were clearly lucky to score in the final minute of normal time, and Inter can feel very unlucky in this one.

      Good game Johnboy

I still support an injury/suspension amnesty for finals. A random injury has spoiled this final. Then there is the likelihood that key players will be rested by teams in games leading up to finals to avoid susps / injuries (especially to the GKs) which could easily affect title runs of other teams.
