    Newcastle 0-1 MANCHESTER UNITED

    Beat the D.

Not much more to say, we deserved to win as you'd imagine, Newcastle missed 3 players, so parked the bus and then got another injury very early. We struggled to break them down but once we went one up we kept professional and made sure we got the points to finish an abysmal 5th by our standards.

We lost the fewest games this season, but those draws we gifted away obviously had a big impact on our season. We have little to be impressed with, and with the cup to come that's our only saving grace.

Elsewhere it was a very bizarre end to the season seeing Spur lift the title, a big well done to them with them nicking it, 2 late goals eh.

Thanks to JB for running another season.

      Leicester 1 Spurs 6

So we started this game with it being mathematically possible for us to win the title but with an 8 goal and 3 point deficit. We knew Leicester would probably go P so we countered and played 2 squaddies for 8 minutes at the start to make their minutes. One of them, Til scored first early but Leicester equalised immediately. On 8 minutes Victor Boniface and Steven Bergwijn entered the fray and Boniface scored his first two Spurs goals before half time and it looked like hopefully a fantastic 3rd place was secured. In the second half veteran Dusan Tadic, the Spurs captain, seemed to sense that results were going for them elsewhere and he made it 4-1 with 13 minutes to go, before Boniface completed his hat trick and fittingly the early star of the season Leon Bailey made it 6-1 to Spurs in a stunning victory. As the news came in that Liverpool had lost 3-0 at Leeds and Arsenal had gone down at home to West Ham, and after some scratching of heads it emerged that Spurs had achieved the unachievable, and were crowned champions of the Premiership. Manager Tim Brown was literally speechless and he joined his players in applauding the away fans who had travelled in their numbers and were in wonderland.

Thanks everyone for your kind words, yes we’ve had some luck along the way but we’ve been there or thereabouts all season and I’m obviously delighted with this. Thanks JB looking forward to a new challenge next season

        Aston Villa 2-1 Chelsea

With one out injured, and one unplayable due to a loan agreement - both sides had 2 out for this one, but with the Champions League Final in mind Chelsea rested a further two who were a yellow away from missing the seasons showpiece. With results elsewhere we would have nicked 3rd with a win here should we have played a stronger team and been lucky enough to win but as it was we finish 6th which is another season of Champions League football. Not much difference between 3rd and 6th in terms of prize money in the grand scheme of things so I'm happy that we get to the final without further issues other than Lamptey who will be missing and of course the on loan defender who can't play. GG Drum Villa worth the win on the day, and many thanks to JB and all the runners for the seasons games.

Congrats to Tim on the title win, been an amazing Prem season.

            Newcastle United 0 - 1 Manchester United

Like Steve said we were without 3 players coming into this one so we wanted to limit the damage that United could do by playing D.

3 minutes in and we’d lost another player to injury to be replaced by a 13 rater and we were never going to get anything from this one from there.

United took the lead on the 26th minute and we didn’t put up any kind of attacking fight as they ran our worthy winners.

            Good game Steve.
Congratulations to Tim and Tottenham on the league title
Thanks to JB for simming games

              Blackburn 3-2 Barnsley

The end of the Barnsley tenure finishes with a loss against the strong Blackburn outfit, we had two key players missing and knew we could still get 11th but Blackburn far too strong and deserved their win. 12th in the prem, could be the highest position for Barnsley in quite a few seasons. Happy to finish there, and the club is in a decent position moving forward. I am not sure if I will be caretaker next season but I hope they find a permanent manager as the club deserves it and still has potential.

Also well done to Tim, astonishing last day. I will miss the premier league - such a competitive league.

Have to say well done to Tim after what was possibly the most remarkable final day of events that decided a title in the history of the game

                  Leeds 3 Liverpool 0

Oh dear, our very own Devon Loch moment (the younger ones will have to Google that).

Felt sure we would have to win this one but as it turns out a 1-0 defeat would have been sufficient. Got my tactics etc all wrong initially and we found ourselves 2-0 down. For the last hour though we created chances galore and really should have scored a few but as is often the case with us we couldn’t find the back of the net. We end up losing the title by the narrowest of margins on goal difference.

But I don’t want to make this sound like a hard luck story, the table doesn’t lie after 38 games and Spurs are absolutely worthy champions. To go to Leicester on the final day and stick 6 past them is remarkable and they deserve all the plaudits. What a job Tim has done there and all credit to him.

We have 2 cup finals to play so as sore as this one is we need to refocus quickly.

Thanks to JB for his immaculate running of the league and to all the other managers in the Prem for making this season such an incredible one. I’d become bored of the game in EFL1 but even with this last game slap in the face it’s been an absolute pleasure to be a part of this league this season.

                    Everton 1 Sheffield Wednesday 1

The wooden spoon is won...........The Owls just couldnt turn draws into enough wins. Competitive under Marsh but lacking in quality to win enough football matches. Overall caretaker Marsh ended with a record of Won 2, Drawn 10, and lost 6. 16 points from 18 games at an average of 0.89 points per game. The Bradwells managed 11 points from 20 games at an average 0.55 points per game so its clear where the blame of relegation sits.

This game was another one the Owls could have won and they would have nicked 19th place. Leading through an Engels goal in the 13th minute they held on until the 87th minute before again collapsing and losing another win.
