Well, I knew it would be a tough battle against Si's Athletico side, a manager I've faced many a time over the years, and usually come off second best. We did however play really well and kept up the good form.
We started cautiously, against the initial N from Madrid, perhaps expecting us to go back to European.
Guedes kept up his goalscoring streak with the only goal, and overall we performed well enough for the points.
There were good games all round, nice to move up a place. Tricky one against Bayern next
Fiorentina have been a club in form moving away from the fringes of relegation into a comfortable mid table position chasing down an 11th placed position. This game proved on the night to be very difficult as the home side controlled the game with an impressive 19-11 shot count. Back to the drawing board as Atletico champions league qualification again looks in the balance with Sevilla pushing still and Roma form improving.
Marsh commented "Neil has done a fair amount of wheeling and dealing recently and the club has progressed for it. We were thoroughly outplayed in this one and must try to be better in the next fixture".
A comfortable win against a struggling team. After 3 straight defeats we threw caution to the wind and felt good about doing it, expecting our A to be too strong for Feyenoord and I was right.
A first minute goal set us up for a good game and two more goals on 12 & 22 minutes put the game to bed less than 25% into the game.
Many would have expected Feyenoord to roll over and get beat heavily but they came into the game and kept us out for the rest of the game.
Statistically we were the better team but not by as much as we’d have liked.
